Der Spiegel - other nations helped Germany in Holocaust
20th May 2009
Poland, among other countries helped Hitler mastermind the mass murders, the German weekly says
The Der Spiegel weekly claims that Germany would not have been able to prosecute its WWII mass-murder campaign against the Jews on its own and the country required the cooperation of other nations, including Poland.
The magazine's front-page story, entitled "Partners. European associates in murdering Jews," cites the case of John Demjaniuk, a former Ukrainian SS-officer, who is currently awaiting trial in Munich, in its bid to prove that without the support of citizens from occupied states the extermination of European Jews would not have been possible.
"Obviously, only Hitler and his associates or the Wehrmacht, were able to stop the Holocaust. This, however, does not weaken the argument that without foreign allies, thousands if not millions of the six million Jews killed would have been saved," the Der Spiegel article reads.
In addition, the weekly claims that while the French, Dutch and Belgians could not have really known what was happening to the Jews, Poles were well aware of the fate that awaited them in concentration camps. Historians and experts from Poland and Germany have undermined the weekly's claims, saying it has made a number of misinterpretations.
More like "The accomplices. Hitler's European helpers in murdering Jews." A bit more sinister tone.
Yeah, Austria!
Ah, you beat me. German grammar Nazis unite!
I’m afraid you’re messing things up.
You mean Demjaniuk was Polish?
He was not.He was an Ukrainian, born near Kiev.
Anyone wonder why the Nazis could get armed so quickly? Answer: Colt, GM hardware and J.P. Morgan's funds
Well, he still is, actually.
No. "Massenmord" is mass murder, etc. They just like to concatenate words.

The Germans killed millions of Catholic Poles in the death camps, as well as Jews.
No doubt a few Poles were found who collaborated rather than be murdered. But other Poles helped shelter the Jews and hide them. is Der Spiegel proud of the way Hitler treated Poland during the War?
Actually, the one country I know of that really helped send the Jews to the death camps was Vichy France.
The fact that Der Spiegel would write an article like this and put that photo on the cover suggests how far the new antisemitism seems to be spreading throughout Europe.
Ugly.
My mistake - the Kristallnacht was in 1938.
Anyway - the “Endecja” wasn’t in power neither in 1938, nor in 1939.
However - another fact is, that even Polish pre-war far Right (actually anti-semitic), didn’t decide to collaborate with the Germans during the occupation.
Actually, Hitler planned through forced sterilization to have Poles extinct as a race in Europe by 1975.
OK. Interesting thanks
Nah, that’s Pat Buchanan’s spin.
Here is a good article on it:

And here is the US Court opinion; damning evidence:
And here is the US appeal (excerpted), which agreed he was a willing Nazi:

Indeed. One must wonder why the occupied peoples didn't resist. Oh wait, many did and were killed for it.
The Germans emptied prisons to recruit the right types.
I think that Demjanjuk was Ukrainian, born in Kiev. That was never part of Poland.
Rather few Poles ever joined the Wehrmacht, and those that did were ones who actually were (or pretended to be) of German ethnicity: so-called Volksdeutsche. They were afforded extra food rations for there families as an incentive. Since many families were of mixed Polish-German ancestry, it was a matter of just emphasizing your choice. At the same time, the Nazis were persecuting intermarriage! Many Poles spoke both languages, and the villages in western Poland frequently had mixed populations. Similarly, there were Germans with slavic surnames, including some who were notable in the military. You think Skorzeny is a typical German name?
There was no place for Poles in the SS.
Well except during a few months during the Polish-Soviet War of 1920.
What an evil man.
The idea that the Jews went quietly is a fiction, the origin of which I never understood.
Certainly there were great efforts to conceal what was happening* and trick the populace, but by the time France was invaded, it was obvious.
* We have a post card from a distant relative that died in Dauchau to the effect of: “You would love scenic Dauchau! Lots of food; it’s so nice to be in an ethnically Jewish neighborhood — all the stores are kosher and you can easily walk to shul.”
Apparently, that was the scam.
United Europe was Hitler's project and it is reincarnated through EU. The Nazi scum even appropriated May 9 (V-Day in Europe) as "Europa Day". Too awkward to be reminded once a year that they were defeated in WWII.
The scandalous accusation of the Poles started with "Polish concentration Camps". Now, it is followed by accusation of Poles of being accomplices to Hitler. It will probably end with accusing Poles of taking German lebensraum. I I were a Pole living around Cracow, I would move before it is too late.
Compare this to accusation of Serbs of being Nazis and comparing real WWII Nazis (Bosnian Muslims, Albanians) with Jews and how Serbs wwre cleansed from Croatia with EU and U.S. support.
Take a look of Der Spiegel cover - Bosnian Muslim Waffen SS Handjar was prominently displayed. During Bosnian civil war Der Spiegel was a German mouthpiece for demonizing Serbs. At that time they conveniently forgot about real Hitler's helpers.
