CHICAGO (AP) - A spokeswoman says a son of the late Robert F. Kennedy is seriously considering a run for the U.S. Senate seat once held by President Barack Obama.
Spokeswoman Kasey Madden didn't say Wednesday when Chicago businessman Chris Kennedy would make an announcement.
The seat Kennedy is interested in is now held by Sen. Roland Burris, who was appointed by ousted former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

I believe she was hoping to get appointed before Burris got it, and she’s been pretty open about her interest ever since. The state treasurer, Giannoulias, is running too.
The scenario you’ve given sure could happen. Outside of the GOP taking the seat, which I’m not counting on, I could live with Burris. He’s not the best, but he’s far from being the worst we’ve ever elected. Plus, he’s not likely to be around for the next 30 years.
A prediction from the suburbs:
D-Primary winner? Giannoulias.
R-Primary winner? Some ridiculous RINO that obeys Little Dick Daley’s every command.
I have a feeling this guy might get caught up in a scandal in the next year, year and a half....
oh, do tell...
I wouldn’t be surprised. Who besides Kirk is likely to run? I read the other day that some doctor I hadn’t heard of was thiking about it.
Well it’s nothing concrete, but his business does business with politicians that are under the watchful eye of the FBI...
he is rather unfortunate looking isn’t he?
No Kennedys!
That too....i’m sick of both,to be honest with you.
Seriously, the Kennedy's have destroyed Massachusetts thoroughly, must they infest other states as well? Rhode Island, New York, Maryland, Illinois...look out there might be a couple of them hiding out in California next!
It's cute how all these Kennedy's live in zillion dollar gated communities and none of them have any actual jobs. My favorite is Robert F. Kennedy Jr. being an "environmental lawyer". This guy's "career" is owning the merchandise mart in Chicago. Oh, and his political "experience" consists of working on Uncle Ted's failed 1980 presidential bid. I don't care if he's "lived" among us little people for 20 years, Kennedy is no Illinoisan, he's an imported Massachusetts socialist.
The sad thing is the RINO-infested Illinois GOP seems hell bent on recruiting ultra-liberal "Republican" Congressman Mark Kirk as their nominee. That guy is so bad he makes Steve Poizer look good. Kirk actually spent the last election gloating how Sierra Club rated him "better than Obama" on envirowacko issues.
Cletus D. Yokel is probably right though, if I had to place my bets today on what I THINK will be the outcome of the Senate primaries (not what I hope will happen), Illinois A.G. Lisa Madigan will be the RAT nominee if she chooses to run. If not, Giannoulias is the likely RAT nominee. Kirk is the likely Republican nominee unless we can get a good conservative candidate in there to stop him (thank the Sauerberg backers who were delusional that their RINO would "beat Durbin", and thus sent a message to the ILGOP that it's acceptable to shove more RINOs down our throat)
We already have Maria Shriver and Gov SchwarzenKennedy, who had RFKjr as his environmental advisor. And we've got Bobby Shriver in Santa Monica who has made rumblings of running for other office. We've got more than our share, thanks.
It will be a great day when there are no stinking Kennedys left in office. If that day ever comes.
Ted (cancer in remission)
Patty Boy (Congressman for life?)
Arnold (officially one of them)
They don’t stop, they all love abortion on demand but they each have 200 children.
Wait till Rose Schlossberg runs for something!!
I agree Madigan will win if she wants the Senate seat. But I think Kennedy could beat Alexi! Belongsinjailoolius. Obama will probably stay out of it but he owes the family because of Ted’s endorsement.
“Kennedy is no Illinoisan”
Nor is Waikiki Barry. But Chicago is “The President’s hometown” according to the masses.
“I’ll alert the media.”
Yikes. Tell me that’s photoshopped.
