Frankly, I think capital punishment is in order for any crime in which the victim would have been justified using deadly force to resist. In such cases, the criminal has himself, subordinated the value of his life to the fruits of the crime.

My only reluctance with the death penalty has nothing to do with misgivings about its suitability, but rather with prosecutors like Nifong or Spitzer who, IMHO, would have no problem seeking it solely for political ends.

In non-premeditated cases, I probably would move to just time in prison.

Premeditated cases though....death all the way. Heck, I would give repeat rapists the death penalty as well.

Have Drew Petersen(wife murderer) marry Casey Anthony(daughter killer) and we could possibly save hundreds of thousands of dollars in housing and feeding these two imps.
