WASHINGTON Sen. Robert C. Byrd, 91 and the longest-serving senator in history, was hospitalized last Friday with a temperature spike evidently caused by a minor infection, his office announced Monday.
Byrd, a West Virginia Democrat, "is being treated with antibiotics, responding well and is expected to be released from the hospital in a few days," the office said in a statement.
Byrd has been in Congress since 1952 and was first elected to the Senate six years later.

Could also be some sort of KKK sickness from being too close to President Obama... KKK Anemia to Kenyan President’s illness...
When the Senate votes on something now, aids haul the debilitated Kennedy and Byrd into the Chambers and hold their hands up to vote “Aye”.
"Pretty, pretty, pretty rules!"
I won’t wish ill on people, but this does bring up another issue: The serious need for term limits for all of Congress is way overdue, but term limits for all of Congress will probably never, ever happen!
I wish Robert Byrd a speedy recovery and peace but I do believe that it is his time to retire, especially with a seat that has already had its occupant go through many struggles with poor health. If he wants to be a record-holder well he has achieved his goal, but just imagine how many decades a young up-and-comer has been deprived of a way to test themselves in the senate because of Byrd’s steady occupation.
For fun, give him a blood transfusion, and then tell him they gave him the *ahem* wrong colored blood.
Amen to all of what you wrote. No one is attacking Byrd when they say it’s time long past time to step down. I he really believes in the Lord Jesus, he would know this. This all about power and the belief that no one can replace you. All you have to do is look at a cemetary to realize that we all are replaceable.
Great: A point of agreement.
Try these:
Matthew 7:
15Beware of false prophets, who come to you in the clothing of sheep, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16By their fruits you shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit, and the evil tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can an evil tree bring forth good fruit. 19Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit, shall be cut down, and shall be cast into the fire. 20Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them. 21Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, have not we prophesied in thy name, and cast out devils in thy name, and done many miracles in thy name? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity. 24Every one therefore that heareth these my words, and doth them, shall be likened to a wise man that built his house upon a rock, 25And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and they beat upon that house, and it fell not, for it was founded on a rock. 26And every one that heareth these my words, and doth them not, shall be like a foolish man that built his house upon the sand, 27And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and they beat upon that house, and it fell, and great was the fall thereof. 28And it came to pass when Jesus had fully ended these words, the people were in admiration at his doctrine. 29For he was teaching them as one having power, and not as the scribes and Pharisees.
As for Bobby "Sheets" Byrd: I pray for his repentance and conversion. Same as Fat Drunk Ted Kennedy and Barry Hussein Soetoro Odinga Whatever 0bama.
Thank you Scooby!
Sorry! Just couldn't help myslf.
Somehow, Senator Byrd’s professed love for our Lord Jesus Christ hasn’t stopped him from consistently voting to sentence millions of innocent human beings to death for the “crime” of being unborn. (I assume that he has repented for his un-Christian views on race relations.)
“I do believe that it is his time to retire”
It’s hard to defend Senator Byrd, but in fairness, he may single-handedly have stopped HillaryCare when he blocked the idea in 1993 of using reconciliation to “fast-track” the legislation through Congress to avoid a Senate filibuster. It was a very principled stand—though obviously VERY unpopular with Hillary and friends.
Thus, before Obama tries the same trick, he’s probably hoping Byrd does retire so that there’s no risk of his standing in the way again. In reality, reconciliation has been mis-used too many times between 1993 and 2009 for anyway to raise a principled objection to that procedure that is grounded in the Constitution or Senate precedents.
So it’s hard to view Byrd now as a safety valve protecting us against Obamacare. But let’s at least credit Byrd with having spared us 15 years of Hillarycare.
Hmmm... even a MINOR infection can be scary when you’re 91. Hope he gets better.
And he voted against the amnesty bill in 2007. We could do a lot worse.
Well according to the picture of him in his Grand Klegle(spelling?)outfit he needs green sheets!
We no longer have any extra land. :-) (Although, I hear there may be a parcel just past Robert C. Byrd Drive, take a left at the Robert C. Byrd Hardwood Center, then...)
Gee, I certainly hope he's incontinent as well. Serves him right since every word he has ever spoken has amounted to a bunch of...
LOL. Before I went thru WV last year, I thought all the Byrd monument rumors were some sort of joke. I was wrong.
