I heard this afternoon that the famous Lifeboat Louie was on his way to South Bend. He’s been arrested many times, so it will be no big deal for him. He is kind of old now, though.

Thank you so much for the ping. That is one of the most Horrific things I have ever seen. I can not understand why a Catholic School would allow that to happen. It is a sad day in America!!!

I don't know all the details, but I think legally that if they give you a warning ("the administration here wants you off the property"), they can arrest you if you don't get off immediately. If they don't give you a warning, it's probably a different story.

In any case, a Catholic University has no business (morally) arresting a Catholic priest for coming on the property and praying. For Christ's sake.

It's be worth asking good-guy canon law blogger Ed Peters at http://www.canonlaw.info/blog.html

Sorry I haven't done that. I've been off-line almost all day.

I believe there's a canon against attacking a priest. I don't know about arresting, handcuffing and jailing one!

Hi. yaelle--- thanks for your comments.

You might want to- read my point of view at #223. What do you think? It stands to reason that Fr. Norm was calling Notre Dame back to the truth of its own identity.

And if Notre Dame accepts students and donors' money on the grounds that it is, by its own charter and by-laws, a Catholic University, and then does not act like one, it is guilty of fraud. Or, as I said, violation of fiduciary trust.

See what I mean?

I just want to get a ladder and drape the outstreched arms of the statue (Christ) with a black drape and lay a little replica of a baby still growing in its mom’s womb over the cloth. No chance of getting onto campus...I know...but still, I wish I were able to get there.

Likewise Elena!!! I am not a Catholic, although I deeply admire this religion and have often thought of becoming one (great thanks to John Paul II-may God continue to embrace this wondrous soul).

Methinks obama is one foul ungracious prig who needs a good solid spanking from a relative who knows him well enough to put the paddle where it belongs.

Sunday will be a good day to pray. ND's notorious modernist blowhard "Father" McBrien supposedly will be on FOX News Sunday with Fr. Frank Pavone (debating this). Chris Wallace moderating.

I watched the video in disbelief. Even more upsetting were the obnoxious comments left about it.

I also heard today that for the first time in 15 years of polling, a majority (51%) polled considered themselves pro-life.

I'm convinced that Father Jenkins is just a puppet in this ordeal and Obama is in fact the one pulling the strings.  He is behind these arrests, as he is micro-managing everything he has an interest in destroying, whether it be the car industry and closing its dealerships, the economy, and now religion. What better way to make a mockery of our Christian faith by starting with harassing Catholics?

Obama stands against the very principles Catholics stand for, and he is going to give the commencement speech at ND and receive an honorary law degree?  I wouldn't be surprised if Obama engineered his own invitation and honors since he needs to soil and undo everything GW Bush valued.  However, something the corrupt culture of death (ie democrats and the liberal media) doesn't want to focus on is that GW is strongly pro-life and a genuine man of faith.

Vatican Officials have decried this event and called it a "scandal."  Archbishop Raymond Burke, Prefect of the Vatican’s highest court, said that if we as individuals are not willing to accept the burdens of the Catholic witness to life, we are not worthy of the name Catholic.

He added, "in a culture marked by widespread and ingrained confusion about the most fundamental teachings of the moral law, our Catholic schools and universities must be beacons of truth and right conduct."

When interviewed about ND and what the Catholic Church should do, he replied:

"What it should do is have Notre Dame come clean. Is it Catholic or isn’t it? A Catholic institution, a Catholic university, cannot give honors to someone who is a promoter of things that are opposed to the most fundamental beliefs of Catholics, and so that’s what needs to happen."

When asked by Hoopes how the Church could do this, Archbishop Burke said:

"There’s an apostolic constitution, Ex corde Ecclesiae, which sets forth the requirements for a university to have the name Catholic. I think that Notre Dame has to either follow those norms or say 'We’re not a Catholic university anymore.'" link

It is indeed heartbreaking and an embarrassment to see a frail 80 years old priest arrested and hauled to jail for simply stepping on ND's sidewalk.

Right after the arrest of Father Norm Weslin, Pastor Rick Scarborough sums up his thoughts well in this one minute video regarding this whole situation.

Mrs. Don-O, I have captured a few photos from the video. Like the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words.

I’ve noticed that the count doesn’t seem to change all the time at YouTube. Don’t know why that is, just that I’ve noticed it on MANY videos — and not just conservative/anti-Obama/pro-life videos either — just to let you know.

I just went over and watched the video — the count is now 8,892.

The Chicago Fox affiliate news just reported on this. Yet they added their editorial comment to the report that despite the protests, the Pope has remained silent on this issue of Obama’s appearance. Is that true?

I just went and watched a few moments ago, and the count is now 8,892.

As for the delay — just so people are aware, it’s not just this video. I’ve noticed “count delays” or whatever it is many times before on videos on a wide range of subjects. Don’t know why that is, or why they do that though...

As for re-watching the video - I think it only still gives you credit for “one view”. I have noticed (at least when I’m signed in to my YouTube account) that there is a “record” of videos you’ve watched... For instance, if I search for something and watch one video, then us the “back browser button” to the search results it will say “Previously viewed” at the result for the one I just watched.

This is something I’ve wondered about, but it also may be that when certain videos start getting numerous hits, it may still count, but not update right away or something. Perhaps it’s a computer program thing to prevent the counter from being overwhelmed? WHO knows! LOL Just my opinion on that...
