Caught on Tape: The Middle East's Culture of Cruelty
(FrontPageMagazine.com) via DANIEL PIPES.ORG ^ | May 15, 2009 | by Daniel Pipes

SNIPPET: "Some of the bravest and most distinguished analysts from the Middle East emphasize that region's culture of cruelty."

SNIPPET: "That cruelty, usually at a remove from outsiders, became cinematically vivid on April 22, 2009, when ABC News aired a tape of a prince from the United Arab Emirates sadistically torturing an Afghan merchant he accused of dishonesty. No less instructive were the passive reactions of his government and of American officials. The story reveals much and is worth pondering:"

These people have been doing this for centurys. Why should anyone be surprised other than the fact that we now have the internet that moves information in minutes? The Middle East is the same as it was in the 7th Century. Afganistan is a crisis......when you talk to our government. That country is so backwards, most wouldn’t believe it. It has no paved roads, other than the one our country put in. It has no major cities. It has no power grid or water facilities. We can get rid of this crisis, for the US, by going after Bin Laden and then get out. We can’t be a nation builder.

At one point, he puts the nail next to the man's buttocks and bangs it through the flesh. "Where's the salt," asks the Sheikh as he pours a large container of salt on to the man's bleeding wounds. The victim pleads for mercy, to no avail. The final scene on the tape shows the Sheikh positioning his victim on the desert sand and then driving over him repeatedly. A sound of breaking bones can be heard on the tape.

Meanwhile, the left in this country and Europe along with the oh so sensitive Muslims are beside themselves that our interrogators turned up the air conditioning at Club Gitmo and, horror of horros, some of our troops put panties on a criminal's head.

In the Middle East when you say someone is being tortured, this is what they think of.

They never imagine that it's something like putting panties on a head, or doing the fake drowning trick.

That's why when the Leftwingtards accuse our troops of comming torture they are stirring their Islamofascist cousins to retaliate in kind ~ this kind.

We probably need a law about this ~ that falsely accusing someone of torture is good for 30 years in the can somewhere.

If pure evil in your face stops "surprising" you, then perhaps you are the one with the problem."

Barbarians and savages act like barbarians and savages.

That’s not our problem.

I’m sorry, but just what does the increasingly odd Mr. Pipes think we should do about some dog vomit Arab prince beating up on some dog vomit Afgan merchant, besides loudly and publicly rejecting Obama’s fideity to the Bush policy of support for Mohammedanism and Mohammedans?

>(5) As the world gets smaller, how does the West maintain a distance from this ghastly aspect of Middle Eastern life?<

What are we talking about? The West has never had any intention of maintaining a distance from the cruelties of ME life as demonstrated by the many Muslims that daily pour into Europe and the US. Observe the increase of “honor killings” in the West and its spineless response to these crimes.

OK...I see. If water runs down hill for centurys, I should be surprised? Amazing.
