TEA in Tea Parties has been interpreted as standing for Taxed Enough Already. This is catchy and a clever linkage to the original Boston Tea Party. However it is such a narrow acronym that it seriously understates the scope of the current protest movement and lends credence to the lefts assertion that Tea Party protestors are just greedy rich people afraid theyll have to pay a little more in taxes. The hundreds of thousands who are involved in todays Tea Party movement are well informed Americans, deeply concerned about a host of issues beyond taxes: national security, socialization, corruption, voter fraud, illegal immigration, and abortion, to name just a few. It seems to me the movement would be better served a better served by a different definition of the acronym TEA or an entirely new name something stronger than tea. Do you agree? If so, your thoughts and creative suggestions could be helpful to protest organizers and participants.
And of course and sadly; the very real threats to America's future go beyond taxes and down to 'core values' and our Supremely-ordained rights of freedom and the rights to pursue our vested self-interest - irrespective of our current Progressive Goverment determinations to the contrary. It was not just a 'tea party' then; and for sure; it is not now.
Hope that these critical issues can be carried forthrightly - and determinedly - under the banner of 'tea party' banner or an enhancement of 'tea party', then so be it!
Leave the name alone, first rule of marketing is brand recognition. You say tea party today, people know what it means ... geez don't throw away something that would take time and millions to "replace."
We don’t need clever new acronyms for the left to ridicule and twist. We need to to fight their twisting and ridicule.
Think about it: How stupid is “Hope and Change?” It’s the ultimate shopworn cliche. But the press wanted Obama, so they trod very lightly. Had McCain used the term first, “Hope and Change” would today be the butt of endless Late-night TV jokes.
We need to argue for our principles and correct ASAP (on camera, get in their face) the gross misuse of language by the other side.
I really like that one. ROGUE - Reduce Our Government Until Efficient.
For Us Citizens Knowing You’re Only Usurper.
That would make the media talk about the 800 lb gorilla in the room.
Since the next rally is on July 4th, I suggest something that brings to mind the original Independence Day:
Declaration Of Independence Today! Otherwise known as the DOIT Rallies, or the Just DOIT Rallies. This would highlight the full text of the Declaration, including the long list of abuses. It could also give new meaning to the phrase "Just DOIT", as in fighting for Justice.
ping to second page commenters.
That's why they've been referring to it as tea bagging.
Let's Declare Our Independence Today! or Let's DOIT! rallies.
As I look through this thread ... I see a lot of “revolt” and “against” thinking. And on first reaction, I feel the same. But maybe what we should all do is take a fresh look at this ... what are we “For”. The stupid socialist won on “yes we can” and “hope” ... this most negative influence upon our country gained his power with a “positive” theme... think about it, it worked! (And we know this is one angry man and negative-thinking man). We have to “not” be a party or movement of “no” ... but a movement of “yes”. What are we “for”? (Obviously, the opposite of what we are against!). What could this great land “be” again ... how much “greater could it become?” Think about moving “into the light” after these dark days of corporate takeovers, etc. But look at the potential reaction of those around us if we are a positive force. What if the tea party was a celebration of what we could be rather than what is wrong. We need to get people to understand they can step away from the dark side and once again be happy and proud. And in the process slay evil! Just a thought.
“The term Tea Party has the left scared.
That’s why they’ve been referring to it as tea bagging.”
I agree! And Here is a link with news about the upcoming National Freeper Tea Party Convention you won’t want to miss!

Since it is the money and freedom of future generations which is being destroyed, how about
FOR OUR CHILDREN UNITED (FOCU)...just sayin’
How about Liberty Parties?
The problem with the whole “tea party” concept is that it’s not so much a revolt against high taxation (as right now Bush’s tax brackets are still in place) and is (or at least ought to be) a revolt against spending and government encroachment.
The GOP needs to reorganize itself around the libertarian theme of LIBERTY. Obama ran on a single, abstract word. So he must be fought with a single concrete one. LIBERTY.
Restore Our Lost Freedom! (ROLF)

An excellent thought.
