Claims we are falling but admits we have become more popular then them.

Makes fun of HTML skills but then screws up the Alexa link.

Here’s something else from the 90’s-ROTFLMAO!

Huh. I remember Daily Koz. Wasn’t that the fad for scumbag lefties before Huffington? It was only a few years ago I think. I’m surprised it’s still around. Whatever.

all wrapped in 90's-era HTML

Anyone who would attempt to rag on FR's software is an ignorant ass.

FreeRepublic has the best forum software, bar none. No indented hierarchies or other cumbersome silliness like the lefty forums inflict on their members. FR is pure streamlined elegance. If the job of a forum is to facilate communication between its members, FR wins, big time.

“...all wrapped in 90’s-era HTML.”

I like artsy stuff, but nothing is more tedious to me than elaborate websites. It’s funny that Craigslist is so popular, and it’s horse-and-buggy era HTML makes FR look sleek. They’re both among the best forums of ANY kind for their ease of use (and usefulness).

The Daily Kos is pathologically hateful, but only against America which their fellow travelers have been trying to destroy for decades.

Since Free Republic is a strong antedote against their truth-hating koolaid, they attack Free Republic.

As far as hatred, bigotry, blah, blah, blah, I’ve heard it before. But this “all wrapped in 90’s-era HTML” business is a grave insult. Free Republic is far easier to negotiate than Daily Kos. And the commenting system is superior.

Last I heard FR was still one of the top 10 political sites on the internet.

KOS is in the gutter.

The statists have a LOT more to worry about than Free Republic now. Freepers are the small subset of Americans willing to take a stand on conservative principles. And they are dwarfed in number by the indignant tea-partiers who are motivated by the realization that the government is scamming them out of their savings and retirements.

The other night I attended a local "town hall" meeting of citizens that was every bit as outraged as any Freeper, and planning plenty of political action.

A sleeping giant is truly awakening, and it's numbers are legion.

Gee, it's been a while since I peeked in the doors of Daily Kaos, Puff Ho, BartCop, SmirkingChimp, Rabble, or their imitators... as the old saying goes, "garbage does not improve with age..."

Me, I kind of like "simple," even 90's html... so many sites are so junked up with audio, flash, shockwave, popups/unders, and other trash that you can't get the information you want.

I’m a member of a number of forums reflective of my interests. Few of them (two exactly) are as easy to read and navigate as is FreeRepublic. The other website/forum is also “wrapped in 90’s-era HTML”.

I make my living in the technology sector, but I hate techy stuff just because it is the latest techy stuff - that goes for those miserable complex websites which bounce and flash and are nearly impossible to navigate. Technology should be efficient and serve the user, not the other way around.

JimRob - I trust you will ignore the jibs and keep things the way they are.

While this article is mostly just these idiots blowing smoke, I do have one thing to say on this issue.

I personally have been spending a lot more time on FaceBook recently than on FR. Why? Because FR is generally an echo-chamber for my political philosophy.

Also, the left has figured out that they can influence or demoralize large numbers of conservatives by coming here and trolling in subtle ways--posting defeatism, "concern" threads, "our enemies are kicking our @ss" threads, etc. In my opinion, the mods have been much too lenient about this sort of behavior.

On FaceBook, meanwhile, I can get out there and do the opposite--spread the good word to all and sundry and MAKE CONVERTS among the young folks. That is truly what we need to be doing.

If FR was more FaceBook friendly, that would be a good thing.
