Much has been made of the "middle" role CNN has taken in the cable news landscape. The position was made evident today in a new segment on American Morning. CNN contributor John Avlon (author of "Independent Nation") will name two people "wingnuts" each week one from the left and one from the right. This week's picks: Cynthia McKinney and Michele Bachman.
He explained in a blog post on CNN.com. "It builds on a simple premise the far-right and the far-left are equally insane," he wrote. "What's a Wingnut? It's someone on the far-right wing or far-left wing of American politics the professional partisans and the unhinged activists the folks who always try to divide rather than unite."

Their new “wingnut” segment should be autobiographical in nature.
We all know the game here..pick crazies on the left, but mainstreme ‘conservatives’. This is all about isolating conservatism. NICE try CNN, but you have been ‘outted’ and we aren’t biting ;)! YOU WILL F A I L E P I C A L L Y!
Agreed Hoover is a *bia*ch, and she tries to paint herself as a voice of the Republican Party!
I’ve thought the same thing (though they’re right on a lot, they’re not perfect why not have World Net Daily host a new avowedly “Conservative” news channel)?
Let me guess. They’ll take the most extreme and indefensible left, such as ALF, anarchists, etc. and put them opposite a traditional conservative.
“the professional partisans and the unhinged activists the folks who always try to divide rather than unite.”
And there’s the gist of it. They won’t find too many leftists go against 0, so it will mainly be conservatives not “uniting”. CNN can go to hell.
"A thing moderately good is not so good as it ought to be. Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." --Thomas Paine (emphasis mine)
When a article begins with a whopper there is really no need to read further.
I, for one, will not un-V-chip CNN for this.
"It builds on a simple premise â the far-right and the far-left are equally insane,"
Fox News is in the center, CNN is “Center Left” (For Clintonoids) and MSNBC is “five degrees right of Indymedia, next to NPR and Pravda”
This makes me glad I don’t have cable.
Considering this segment came from the same guy who goes on Fox News John Avlon, who is the fiancee of Margaret Hoover, the Fox News contributor and grand-daughter of Herbert Hoover or something like that, I think that makes the segment even more goofier. You’ll often see the guy as the “moderate” in debates on Fox News.
So the question is:
A) Why not do it on Fox News?
B) Why did he have to come up with the segment of all people
C) Why trash Michele Bachmann who is one of the few standing up for her convictions?
D) How could this phony be the fiancee of Margaret Hoover?
I know the answer to question A...simple Fox News wouldn’t do something so dumb.
As someone else said comparing Cynthia McKinney to Michele Bachmann is a joke.
Also a joke is Kiran Chetry who tried to get the woman hosting Fox and Friends fired and thus she was fired off Fox News. A has been.
CNN's New "Wingnut" Segment Hits Left and RightOh brother.
This week's picks: Cynthia McKinney and Michele Bachman (sic).
And worse, sh'es then put in the same category as the racist antisemitic bigot Cindy 'Jihad' McKinney, who has the IQ of a stick!
These people at CNN are mentally ill.
(per the new FR Michele Bachman rule, here she is boys)
drooling on keyboard is allowed.
but NO screen licking!
Note to CNN editors, there's TWO 'n's' in Bachmann
Hey, I've really toned it down!
