White House Military Office Chief Resigns Over Plane Flyover Flap

Louis Caldera, the man who organized the low-flying Air Force One plane that panicked New York City, delivered his resignation Friday as the White House released a photo of the plane.

$357,000 for a photo that I could have snapped with my $99 digital camera.

And did they spend $357,000 for ONE photo? Where are the others?

I still haven’t heard if the Secret Service was briefed in on the use of Air Force 1 for a 3 hour photo op.

If that plane was in New York, that means the other plane HAD to be ready to fly on demand. The SS and the flight crews MUST coordinate this action.

This was all done at the behest of Louis Caldera? No Freakin Way.

I would love to see all the photos and I would love to see someone force the white house to post that video on their website with an apology.

A couple of points- first of all I would think the flyover would have been planned more than three days out- so he should have been notified sooner. Second this should have been discussed face to face or at least by phone, not just a memo item in an email. I agree he should check his email more often, but two of the days were weekend, and I doubt he is supposed to access his email from anywhere other than his office. If he had been on a trip, out for the weekend, and out for back pain then that explains the time lag also.

Read the report. Planning started earlier; he was notified a week before the flight (April 20), but "doesn't recall" that meeting. In my opinion there's a much higher chance the guy is a moron rather than a patsy.

I still want to know WHO was on that flight, I think that will be very telling if we find out.

In this letter to John McCain Defense Secretary Gates wrote

"the April 27, 2009 flight was a continuation training pilot currency sortie, and the crew flew a total of three hours, of which a portion was used to update the official photograph of the VC-25. With the exception of one combat photographer, a standard crew complement performed the mission in accordance with Air Force instructions and at Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved altitudes. There were no non-duty personnel or passengers on board."

Later in the letter he tallies how much everything cost. McCain made some joke about "Air Farce One" in the news about it.

Of course they didn’t! The much scarier photos they’re not releasing are of AF1 flying low near lower Manhattan.

Somehow, I bet it was Assad. Assad was out of the Syria and his theme was what conditions he sees as a prerequisite for peace with Israel. Netanyahu coming to DC a few weeks later.

I realize AF One didn’t fly into Vienna in broad Daylight. But somehow, he was brought here for the “sensitive” negotiations they so love.

Can we *confirm* (not a press release) the whereabouts of Assad or Obama that day and the Sunday before? Any ideas how to confirm or debunk my theory??

This doesn't agree with what you about just ONE photo. There are clearly lots more, much scarier photos; they simply picked the most harmless-looking one. Why would they need to Photoshop it?

Also, it's not way too high, think about it: in real life the statue from foundation to base is 300 ft tall, and the plane is several times shorter than it (65 ft according to AF). In the picture they occupy roughly the same amount of vertical space. Don't see anything suspicious here. Especially since the Administration is clearly simply sitting on lots more pictures of the plane close to NYC buildings.

Why photoshop? I think the real photos are much lower, I think they either chose a photo flying high or photoshopped the plane in very high. From the video I saw, the plane looked quite low. Also besides scale, I dunno maybe shaddowing off—I live in a flight path for ORD & planes just look different IMHO.

Maybe really tinfoil hat, but I am not even sure photo op was the reason for the flyover.

Yes. Someone got a thrill ride compliments of Zero. This was too much of a barnstorming mission. Perhaps he had a few Muslim cohort friends aboard to show them the scene of the crime in NYC and to let them relive what it must have been like on that glorious and victorious day in Muslim history.

Or then, it could be a huge distraction for something else that is equally as sinister. It’s all a shell game for the Chicago organizer and his thugs.

Whatever the case, there is no way that they would fly all the way from Andrews and back just for a photo op. Not a chance in the world that this is the truth. Too bad the military pilots can’t reveal the truth.
