Given how much the Left has been able to trash our Constitutional rights in only the first 100 days of O's Administration, this is actually something to be expected.

I say, "Hope for the best but prepare for the worst," and when I say the "worst," I mean your worst government nightmare.

“up to two years in prison for those whose electronic speech is meant to ‘coerce, intimidate, harass, or cause substantial emotional distress.’”

...GOOD LORD! Just about everything posted on the internet could fall into any of the above categories. Or easily be miscontstrued as such. A set of “living, breathing” rules that will change when convenient.

This bill is blatantly unconstitutional enough that it won’t withstand a legal challenge, regardless of the makeup of the court.

Well, since the entire contents of the HuffPuff and DailyKook and DU cause me distress, they clearly MUST be shut down immediately, and their owners jailed.

This commie approach from Sanchez is no surprise. She achieved her seat by cheating the system she denegrates. Democrats are lying criminals in elected office ... and have blood dripping from their filthy hands already, so expect anything from dead souls like Sanchez.

"communications that include e-mails and text messages that "cause substantial emotional distress"."

The article didn't mention anything about "intent", which is usually a condition required in the commission of a crime. Without intent, it is usually a lesser crime, if at all. The article also mentions that this law would apply to blogs and websites, so not just to direct communication, like email or texts.

So this, of course, would mean that any Leftie Nutbag, could read a post on FR, declare emotional distress, and have the poster locked up.

This is who the political Left is. American has been conquered.

PDF version

Read it and weep for your Constitution.

Here is the entire text of the "operative section", the rest is just "findings" etc.

`Sec. 881. Cyberbullying

`(a) Whoever transmits in interstate or foreign commerce any communication, with the intent to coerce, intimidate, harass, or cause substantial emotional distress to a person, using electronic means to support severe, repeated, and hostile behavior, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.

`(b) As used in this section--

`(1) the term `communication' means the electronic transmission, between or among points specified by the user, of information of the user's choosing, without change in the form or content of the information as sent and received; and

`(2) the term `electronic means' means any equipment dependent on electrical power to access an information service, including email, instant messaging, blogs, websites, telephones, and text messages.'.

(b) Clerical Amendment- The table of sections at the beginning of chapter 41 of title 18, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new item:

Thanks for the ping...

Hey I’m still signed up for Obama’s mailing list (know thine enemy). EVERY single time I even SEE one of these emails in my inbox it causes me great emotional distress (cause I never know whether they’ll ask for another $1.00 or $5.00 contribution, tell me to go harass my neighbors about some insane budget, or tell me to harass Rush Limbaugh!

Maybe I could sue Obama’s campaign? I wonder where the email originate from??? (LOL)
