Unlike Romney's "National Council for a New America," Free Republic is a conservative site!

I'm going to try one more time to explain what FR is all about.

Free Republic is a conservative site. That does not necessarily mean it is a Republican site. In fact there may be many Republicans we don't support and some Republican issues we cannot agree with.

I'll throw in Arlen Specter as a prime example of a Republican we cannot support. Should be obvious to all why not. Should also be just as obvious to all that we cannot support Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, John McCain and his lap dog Lindsay Graham, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, et al.

Some of the issues we cannot support as conservatives even though sometimes initiated by so-called Republicans include TARP, or any kind of government bailout of private enterprise, federal intrusion into free markets, federalized education systems, government provided or controlled health care systems, abortion, gay marriage, amnesty, global warming, gun control, etc.

I guess there is more than one definition of conservatism floating around out there, and this won't be text book, but the one we use involves defending, preserving and protecting our constitution, our unalienable rights, our traditional family values, our American heritage, our nation, our borders and our sovereignty.

We aggressively defend our rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness!

We aggressively defend our rights to freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to keep and bear arms, right to due process, right to equality under the law, right to be governed under the rule of law, right to constitutionally limited government, right to corruption free government, right to self-government and our private property rights, etc.

We also aggressively defend our right to state and local government for all issues not expressly delegated to the central government by the constitution.

We aggressively defend our rights to free markets and our rights to live our lives free of government intrusion, interference, coercion, force, or abuse of any kind.

We aggressively defend our rights to national sovereignty, state sovereignty and individual sovereignty!

And this definition also includes aggressively fighting against all enemies foreign and domestic who may try to deprive us of our rights or sovereignty. This would obviously include all foreign enemies, but also we defend against RINOS, Democrats, liberals, socialists, Marxists, communists, militant feminists or homosexualists, radical environmentalists, etc, etc, etc.

And we expect our elected representatives to also aggressively defend our rights and fight against all enemies foreign and domestic. We do not elect people and send them to DC or our state capitals, etc, to reach across the aisles or to be bipartisan or to negotiate or compromise away our rights. If you're not going to aggressively fight for us, and for our rights, STAY OUT!!

We bow to no king but God!

Our God-given unalienable rights are NOT negotiable!

Do NOT Tread on US!

Thank you very much!

Was asked by my wife to post this song a few times. She likes it, I’ve posted it once, and Jim R’s directive missive seems like a good thread to put it on again. (She also likes my saying “Mitt’s ado about nothing”). You can change GOP for FR or anything conservative:

“The weather outside the GOP is frightful
Inside it’s so delightful
Except for Olympia Snowe
Let her go, let her go, let her go”

Whoa......I agree about the extra taxes, I’m not a fan, but what I’m pointing out is, the law is the law, your son chose not to follow the rules therefore he got fined. I don’t agree with what Romney did here in the healthcare department but, I do think he has a lot of other good characteristics and experience,,,,,hell he got rid of billy bulger and that’s a big freakin’ feather in his cap as far as I’m concerned!

How about CINO's (Conservatives In Name Only) not welcome here?

It is a minor point but really misses what JR is saying.

This is not a Republican site, nor a Republican in name only site.

Until "we" and I mean all of us bedrock conservatives can get together upon principle and stop supporting Republicans simply because they are not Democrats after all, the Republican Party will continue to abuse us.

Not meant as a personal affront to you.

But is this the way we want to go?
Extra taxes for having firearms?
Extra taxes for not volunteering for national service?
Extra taxes for eating spare ribs?

& you are exactly right with your point

Now that you bring that up as an example, RomneyCare is pure 100% unadulterated socialist/fascism forced upon the people at the point of a gun. Pay up or be taxed to death. The guy never met a big government socialist program he didn’t like.

And if you’re too poor or otherwise inconvenienced, don’t worry. The socialist government will rob from others to subsidize your premiums.

What’s that? You want a taxpayer funded abortion? Your child is inconvenient for you so you wish your fellow tax payers to murder him for you? No problem. Mr. Romney is your man!

Up yours, Romney!

Jim,
Thank you for making that clarification for those who do not understand what Conservative means, in a nutshell it means we do not blindly follow anyone, especially party. That is what differentiates us from the liberal philosophy.

Now I just hope the powers that be up in Congress would read this so they are no longer confused about how to WIN our vote becuase it is in fact a prize to be won. I hope Mike Steele is paying attention. I don’t even identify myself as a Republican anymore.

I think the ‘change’ we have to institute is to start dismantling the RINO machines >>>>>> NOW! And I’m all for petitions, emails, talking it up ad nauseaum ... for TERM LIMITS!

I know the congresscritters will ignore it .. initially, but if there’s a growing drumbeat, term limit parties, picked up and trumpeted by talk radio, etc. to get the concept in the public discourse, it’s a worthy start.

These empires must end .... working only for their next election, taking millions for pay-to-play votes from the lobbyists and disgusting lifelong multi-million dollar pensions and healthcare on our dimes for life must END!

If there’s not such overwhelmingly powerful and influential empires, there won’t be such opportune targets for influence and campaign $$.

They have no fear .. they need to fear LOSING their power. They need to fear US.

In addition to all his scandalous and immoral deeds, when Christopher Dodd only gets $4K from his own state but takes in millions in campaign donations from Wall St., etc., that blatant influence peddling just can’t be ignored.

IMO, these RINOs have to have solid organized state efforts to get them removed from their empires, for starters:

Graham
Snowe
Collins
McCain

And honestly, if I lived in PA, and there was a Dim candidate running against Specter, I’d have to think real hard about it, but if the dynamics were such that his opponent had a good shot, I could be convinced to vote for his opponent rather than the pubbie to send Specter off the reservation permanently, so aggregious a worm he is to me.

It’s past time to purge the RINOs and find, work with and tangibly support young committed Pubbies .. colleges are full of them .. maybe even FReepers .. in ME, SC and AZ, and the GOP needs to get that message and make it their mission.

We fight on!

Some polling has Giuliani up by 15% over Paterson in NY for 2010...Giuliani will be 68 in 2012, probably too old for a Presidential run...magritte

I held my nose and worked to elect McCain, after he had sewed up the primary. It was the right thing to do, although I caught a lot of flack from some FReepers over it.

I wish he were president now. No, he wouldn't be perfect, but he'd be better than Obama by far, and he wouldn't be taking steps like politicizing the census that are designed purely to solidify the rat hold on government.

I understand that. I’m a Conservative in all areas (pro God, pro life, fiscal, security, Constitution). That doesn’t mean I agree with what a poster may post or disagree with any politician, etc.

Are we still allowed to discuss the issues, politicians, agendas, etc. rationally even if we don’t agree 100% with a poster?

The proof is the pudding and where Romney is concerned there is nothing but liberal pudding. If he has truly converted to Conservatism then he needs to run for Congress or Senate and prove himself with track a record. If runs again he is going to find himself wasting a lot of money. Romney was the primary reason we ended up with a lackluster candidate for President.
