Unlike Romney's "National Council for a New America," Free Republic is a conservative site!

I'm going to try one more time to explain what FR is all about.

Free Republic is a conservative site. That does not necessarily mean it is a Republican site. In fact there may be many Republicans we don't support and some Republican issues we cannot agree with.

I'll throw in Arlen Specter as a prime example of a Republican we cannot support. Should be obvious to all why not. Should also be just as obvious to all that we cannot support Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, John McCain and his lap dog Lindsay Graham, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, et al.

Some of the issues we cannot support as conservatives even though sometimes initiated by so-called Republicans include TARP, or any kind of government bailout of private enterprise, federal intrusion into free markets, federalized education systems, government provided or controlled health care systems, abortion, gay marriage, amnesty, global warming, gun control, etc.

I guess there is more than one definition of conservatism floating around out there, and this won't be text book, but the one we use involves defending, preserving and protecting our constitution, our unalienable rights, our traditional family values, our American heritage, our nation, our borders and our sovereignty.

We aggressively defend our rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness!

We aggressively defend our rights to freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to keep and bear arms, right to due process, right to equality under the law, right to be governed under the rule of law, right to constitutionally limited government, right to corruption free government, right to self-government and our private property rights, etc.

We also aggressively defend our right to state and local government for all issues not expressly delegated to the central government by the constitution.

We aggressively defend our rights to free markets and our rights to live our lives free of government intrusion, interference, coercion, force, or abuse of any kind.

We aggressively defend our rights to national sovereignty, state sovereignty and individual sovereignty!

And this definition also includes aggressively fighting against all enemies foreign and domestic who may try to deprive us of our rights or sovereignty. This would obviously include all foreign enemies, but also we defend against RINOS, Democrats, liberals, socialists, Marxists, communists, militant feminists or homosexualists, radical environmentalists, etc, etc, etc.

And we expect our elected representatives to also aggressively defend our rights and fight against all enemies foreign and domestic. We do not elect people and send them to DC or our state capitals, etc, to reach across the aisles or to be bipartisan or to negotiate or compromise away our rights. If you're not going to aggressively fight for us, and for our rights, STAY OUT!!

We bow to no king but God!

Our God-given unalienable rights are NOT negotiable!

Do NOT Tread on US!

Thank you very much!

I know the past remains in the past, but the uninformed missed our soiid and vocal support in the past of certain persons whose names are poison, but who still personify those we were so supportive of in the past.

I know that Duncan Hunter would be a great choice and deserving of any real support ... I think Sarah Palin is the real deal, but too often we are eating our own in the case of persons who may not qualify (in today's minds) for the top spot, but who still speak eloquently for true conservatism.

Of course I speak of Alan Keyes, who still can speak to the masses in an intelligent manner for the most vital and revered portions of conservatism. But he is reviled and I find my self looking at his latest "SINS" and wonder where the brains of understanding the English language disappeared to over the last eight years. Not totally right, but a great voice for our side ... and he is reviled and subjected to scorn here. There are not many eloquent conservatives out there who have the imprimatur of Ronald Regan, but Ambassador Keyes did.

He is just one example of how FR has changed and how it 'eats its own'. There are others who could speak for us ... and it is vital that we start now or yesterday to gather our human resources and start the good fight for the Republic and the Ideals we hold dear.

I am still spitting nails over Hunter being thrown to the dogs. He was a true conservative and is. John McCain was dead last. I would like to know how he got the ticket when most would not have voted for him.

How much a non media freak misses. My bad. I never cared much for movies or TV, for some reason.

Romney's supporters use obfuscation, misdirection, accusations of wrong doing (if you don't like him, you don't like Mormons; you're jealous; you aren't giving him a fair chance 'cause he's changed, etc.) because they can't admit that he's a complete failure as a Conservative.

The left uses the same tactic. Just replace Mormon with Black.

We end up in the same place with Mitt Romney as president as we do with Insane Obama, only now we’ve also destroyed the Republican party as a “Conservative” opposition party.

No thanks!

McCain was the bottom of the barrel. Romney’s in the cellar. We can do much better.

One more time just so I’m perfectly clear:

Free Republic is here to FIGHT FOR conservatism, not to compromise, negotiate, debate, be fair, be bipartisan, hold hands across the aisle, erect big tents, elect RINO Republicans or otherwise allow politicians to continue eroding away our rights, giving up our sovereignty, or to continue their big government, big spending, high taxing, anti-freedom, anti-American socialist ways.

RINOS will be the death of the GOP and the death of American Liberty if allowed to “rule” over us!

Wake up GOP. The TEA Party rebellion is not just against Democrats! It’s the voice of the formerly sleeping Liberty loving silent majority rebelling against socialism gone too far!!

Rebellion is brewing!!

Do NOT tread on me!!

But what do we do if, say, Sarah Palin makes the presidential nomination and in spite of protests she chooses Romney for veep,

Do you HONESTLY believe that Mitt would accept second place behind a WOMAN???

Not a chance.

I remember what seemed like 3/4 the posters here whining about McCain and how it was a shame we didn't nominate "real conservative" Mitt Romney.

I don't remember that.

From primary to primary the ticket was divided. He came out on top from what, 5 divisions? Nobody would relent because we didn’t really have anyone. Truth.

Sorry it it does not make sence!

But I did check the dictionary it is nasty and uncalled for!

There are many things one can say but just to throw something out for meanness show a very unkind soul!

Fight for liberty and freedom what for just to be mean and nasty?

How does that advance opportunity, hard work, and family?

I think just about everyone here recognizes Alan Keyes as a great conservative. However, some believe that it is impossible for him to ever win the presidency (just as many believe the same about Duncan Hunter) and for this reason they may not get the support that many wish they would.

This is TOTALLY DIFFERENT from refusing to support someone on the grounds that they aren't a conservative.

Jim being a Navy guy might not be as shy about sailor language. I would not personally use the word because of the original connotation.

“I don’t mean to be harsh. Understand that a vote for Palin was a vote for McCain. “

Harsh? How is that harsh? You act like I don’t realize a vote for Palin was a vot for McCain. Hell, the President and VP have run together since... oh about the 3rd election over 200 years abo. I think we understand that by now.

This isn’t junior high school.

I don’t either (and I’m too young to remember Reagan from his movie/TV days), but keep in mind that in many ways movies and TV were more popular in the 50s and 60s than they are today.
