Mitt Romney, left off Time's list of the 100 most influential people, takes a jab at the list and, by extension, the Republicans on it. [Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin]
Romney jokingly suggesting in an interview with CNN's John King that they'd been included for looks, not influence:
[...]
ROMNEY: John, I'd like to have a lot more influential Republicans. I think there are a lot more influential Republicans than that would suggest. But was that the issue on the most beautiful people or the most influential people? I'm not sure. If it's the most beautiful, I understand. We're not real cute.

Like or not like, agree or not agree, what has Mitt ever gone full out for, save being elected?
What makes Mitt tick? Tidying up, a bit, on the margins, here and there, government screw-ups?
Well, I suppose he’s better than a sharp stick in the eye.
If you remenber Rommey Quit the race in 2000.Quitter
They actually need her more than she needs them.
Yup
He could put himself on the cover every week... like Opie’s magazine.
Picture the June 2009 issue...
“Slick Willard’s Magic Undies... Can They Bring World Peace ?”
Romney ran Massachusetts FCOL and was surrounded by socialists so given that he did OK. That wasn’t what I was responding to anyway. But thanks for your input.
BTW "Time" must be scraping the bottom of the barrel, they sent me a offer for a 57 issues for $15-- I can just barely stand to be on the same internet with that liberal rag, much less have it actually in my mailbox or home!
Except that he's not. The headline is an outright lie; Romney didn't even mention or allude to Palin.
He didn't even mention either; the headline is a complete and utter lie.
I read this as a backhanded negative comment directed to Sarah Palin, just like the CPAC comment was. He's intimating that she isn't influential and only beautiful.
Like she's just another pretty face! This is marginalization of her experience and leadership!
Romney is so gay.
No, it wasn’t a slap at Palin...following the order of his statement, Romney basically said there weren’t nearly enough Republicans on the list, but if the list was merely a beauty contest, he understood it...Limbaugh and Palin are the biggest Republican celebrities around at this time, that’s just a fact...magritte
Beauty contests are about beauty, not popularity. This sounds like another round of Mitt Romney Sour Grapes to me.
OK. I read it as a slap at the rest of the list, not specifically Republicans, since he seemed to be complaining that there weren't enough Republicans.
I’ve said before, and I’ll say it again. Romney, Cantor and Jeb Bush thanks for the feedback, good bye.
Yeah, Rush has those GQ cover boy good looks. Must be the hair...

Beauty Contest = Celebrity, not physical attractiveness...c’mon...magritte
"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldnt make any sense at all."" -- President Ronald Reagan
“...I do not see any passion emanating from this man...”
I see it your way. I am a huge fan of Ann Coulter except for her favorable view of Romney and her cooler view of Palin. Romney is just not as likeable, as principled, or as electable as Palin.
I'd be curious if, and if so, the reason, unique would take issue with that. In post 1225 of Jim Robinson's "If Mitt Romney is in, I'm out!" thread, unique says that Palin can't win.
I'm with Jim Robinson; so are many conservatives here. I know at least a few were like me and held the line at Romney (and McCain, actually ... I voted for Palin in the last election; had McCain nominated Romney, the team would have forfeited my vote). I'm not bluffing, and I doubt the others are, either.
Nominating Romney is guaranteed to deliver a gut-weakening blow to the numbers of people who would vote Republican. If Romney is in, we're out.
It would be interesting to do a survey of people here who would declare:
If Palin is in, we're out!
