Miss California appears in anti-gay marriage ad
Reuters ^ | Thu Apr 30, 2009 | Alex Dobuzinskis –

After failing to stop recent gay marriage approvals in several states, opponents have found an attractive, telegenic poster woman in Miss California, a move reminiscent of beauty queen Anita Bryant's 1970s crusade against gay rights.

Miss California, a Christian college student named Carrie Prejean, joined in a television ad campaign against gay marriage this week, upsetting homosexual rights advocates, including a head of the Miss California pageant.

In the commercial from the National Organization for Marriage, Prejean is shown at the Miss USA competition last month where she answered a question about same-sex marriage by saying she opposed it, drawing both boos and cheers and setting off a raucous debate.

After providing that answer, Prejean was named runner-up to Miss USA. She later said her view on marriage cost her the crown.

As gay marriage opponents have rallied around Miss California, they have also lost key battles in recent weeks.

On Wednesday, New Hampshire's Senate passed a bill to legalize same-sex marriage and if the governor signs it, the state could become the fifth to legalize gay weddings.

Last month, Iowa became the first Midwest state to allow gay marriage, and Vermont became the first to legalize it through legislative action.

Craig Rimmerman, co-editor of "The Politics of Same-Sex Marriage," said Prejean's rise to prominence comes as gay marriage opponents are on the defensive.

"The conservative right is wondering if same-sex marriage is as potent an issue politically as it was in the past," he said. "So for them to have a different spokeswoman who comes at this from a different background, they probably see this as a really positive development."

A few observations about Alex Dobuzinskis and his most recent article for (hema)Reuters. I have not seen this ad, but based on his description, and Miss Prejean's response at the pagent, I find it hard to believe that the ad is perposefully anti-gay "marriage." At the pagent, Miss Prejean went out of the way to state her own personal views, without attacking the views for others. She made the case for traditional marriage, and never discussed the immorality of gay "marriage."

The article quotes the unfortunately named Craig Rimmerman, gay activist and editor of a gay publication as an indication of what the current conservative viewpoint is on this subject. It also talks about the avalanche of recent setbacks the concensus for traditional marriage has felt, and even discuesses the liberal political climate in California, without mentioning that the same voters who went to the polls to vote for Obama there overwhelmingly rejected gay marriage there.

So, as is my habit when I come across stories like these, I did a search of the athor+gay. Turns out thats all he ever writes about. Every article he turns in to (hema)reuters (did you know that repeated forced entry to the rectum causes hemarhoids?) or anywhere else is on a gay friendly subject. And usually gay "marriage." I have no further comment, other than to let Alex know that I'm on to him. and so are the rest of you now.

I still can't figure out why in the world a homosexual man is a judge in a beauty contest.

It seems like there's not a single area of life anymore where can get a break from these people and their agenda.

More people should stand up to the bullying from the activist.
Nothing they can do to shut us up or change our minds.

By gross abuse of judicial powers.

Anyone else notice that no one is talking about the winner, but only about Miss California?

She didn’t appear in an “anti-gay marriage ad” (which would be a “marriage ad” that was “anti-gay”), she appeared in an “anti-gay-marriage ad” (an ad in opposition to “gay marriage”). I know that those communists at Reuters can’t be expected to refrain from using loaded terms such as “gay marriage” (which also happens to be a contradiction in terms), but can’t they at least learn how to hyphenate properly?

The Queers ( THEIR WORD NOT MINE!!) have started a fight with the wrong woman. The liberal are always bleating about “Strong women”, while here's a strong woman! Of course what they really mean is a not a “strong women” but an obnoxious hag who will use foul curse words while trying to yell her way through an argument. Sorry queers you woke a sleeping giant who is not afraid of your bully tactics.
As they say on Oprah's show “You go girl!”

Before hijacking a beauty pageant, Hilton’s claim to fame was that he was the first to post voyeur stalker photos of a young mentally ill mother’s vagina on the internet for all to see.

Exactly. Or a better term I like to use, Biblical Marriage(Matthew 19:4-6).

I fear the Left has won the debate when any belief in Biblical Marriage is defined as “anti-gay marriage” and conservatives like Sean Hannity and others play right into it and use their language. It’s like being “anti-square circles”. The government could pass a law requiring squares to be called circles but it will never make squares circles in reality. True marriage will remain as Jesus defined it in Matthew 19:4-6 whether the government agrees or not and whether the Left likes it or not.
