A few thoughts:
1. Why don’t we call it Air Force Zero, in honor of the messiah?
2. Can we find out who WAS on the plane? Like was Michelle on the plane? We shouldn’t be satisfied to know that Obama wasn’t on the plane, let’s find out who was.
3. Does the POTUS think Ground Zero was named after him?
4. Follow up to #3, should we call the White House Ground Zero, when Obama is there, or will that stir up Homeland Security (thinking this is a right wing plot)?

If George Bush were president, who do you think would get the blame? Bush or Cheney. So why don’t we hold Obama to the same standard?

NYPD said they were instructed (presumably by the WH) NOT to notify anyone.
He thinks it’s all about him. Everything. The entire history of the world. Guys, we have a nutcase in the White House.
That picture is frightening looking at it from the prism of an FR post in the comfort of my computer chair.
It could well have been a hijacked plane chased by a couple of fighter planes getting ready to take out another skyscraper....or get shot down and crash on 42nd Street.

Most likely this manuever is illegal and Obama causing mass hysteria should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law...

If you go to the linked ABC article you will see numerous comments by Obamaniacs claiming that NYCers are being "weenies", that they've been duped by George Bush's fake "War on Terror", that this is no big deal, that military folks in Vietnam and Baghdad have seen worse, etc.
And yet these are the same people that claim that a law enforcement car near a polling booth in a black neighborhood effectively intimidates (choose your own number) of black voters thus disenfranchising them. These morons ALWAYS need to have it any way they want. It is correct to "release the torture memos and prosecute those behind them because no one is above the law" but if someone enters the country illegally somehow they ARE above the law.
I have not read one official rationale for this supposed photo-op, what the photo they were trying to create was, why the timing was what it was, etc. but there is no rational reason to defend this and I guarantee you that there were many NYCers that voted for Obama that are re-thinking their vote and contemplating their future vote.

On Monday afternoon, the Director of the White House Military Office, Louis Caldera, released a statement saying, "Last week, I approved a mission over New York. I take responsibility for that decision. While federal authorities took the proper steps to notify state and local authorities in New York and New Jersey, it's clear that the mission created confusion and disruption. I apologize and take responsibility for any distress that flight caused."

Seems like they did not follow their original flight plan. The Mayor of New York sure as hell is steamed off. And surely he would have been given all the details before the event.

Why? And for something that clearly would cause public concern, why the decision to not notify the public? Since it needn’t be announced that the aircraft in question was AF1 and Obama wouldn’t be aboard there were no pressing OPSEC issues.
