Top link now on Drudge- from article:
The first case was seen in Mexico on April 13. The outbreak coincided with the President Barack Obamas trip to Mexico City on April 16. Obama was received at Mexicos anthropology museum in Mexico City by Felipe Solis, a distinguished archeologist who died the following day from symptoms similar to flu, Reforma newspaper reported. The newspaper didnt confirm if Solis had swine flu or not.

“we are all gonna die”
Great line from “Zulu”.....the drunken minister screams at the Welsh newbies as he is driven from Rourk’s Drift....”Your All Going To Die ! “
Achoo! (Excuse me.)
Unfortunately, the POTUS election won't happen until 2012.
If he is quantined what happens to his 100 day celebration press conference?
Can a disease kill a disease?
I pray that no harm will come to obama or his family. But I don’t agree with anything the man has done since he’s been in office.
He’s only been there 100 days and as I see it, he is the worst president in my lifetime. And I never thought there could ever be one worse then carter. But obama managed to be worse then carter and he did it in only 100 days.
Ditto.. I also hope his kids don’t have it either..
Sounds like mumps....Teste little disease in an adult!!
With the swiftness of Filipe’s death, sounds more like anthrax than the flu.
“.....chest, YO HO HO and a bottle of rum....
I don’t want to see the POTUS or his family (or anyone) succumb to this.
Still, it is just weird enough to make you scratch your head a bit.
I wonder if Jay Leno’s mysterious illness could be this. They said he has never missed the tonight show in 17 years due to illness and all of a sudden he became ill and had to be taken to the hospital. So far no one has said what he had only that he is doing alright.
I agree... I hope to god this isn’t a bio terror attack..
There’s sooo many posts so somebody might have said this...but can a Muslim die of Swine FLU...LOL...perfect irony.
Ixnay on the inesway! (You know how sensitive "those people" are about pork products.)
For now, a touch of caution might be wise. For example, if you lived in San Antonio, I wouldn't be in the crowd at Walmart stocking up on beans & rice at 2 pm tomorrow after everyone's out of church. Going at 2 AM might be a smarter time -- if you MUST go. You might re-think sending your kids to school if you live near a potential hotspot as well -- I beleive some school near San Antonio have already announced closures for next week until we know more.
Seeing how quickly this strain can kill is making it hard to know if you haven't already been exposed if you've handled or EATEN anything "Hecho in Mexico" in the last few days...
And Tamiflu treats it quit well.......
Yeah, I've read that story too -- the AP story that says, "The CDC says two flu drugs, Tamiflu and Relenza, seem effective."
Has WHO proven that these anti-virals work 100 percent when administered? Can they get it in the hands of all of the health professionals in time if this bug has already spread along the interstate trucking route (from Mexico) and all major cities? Sorry my friend -- I haven't been too impressed by the Federal government's ability to manage ANY crisis lately...
And that's also providing this strain of H1N1 doesn't mutate. The very fact THIS virus is a combo of Avian, Swine and Human influenza — one never before seen by scientists — should make any prudent person take note.
Tamiflu is a flu drug produced by the Basel-based pharmaceutical company, though it is unclear whether it can be successfully used to treat swine flu. Company spokesman Claudia Schmitt said Roche is prepared to deliver several million doses should the need arise as part of an emergency stockpile program.
Sari Segoti, a WHO spokeswoman, confirmed the WHO is looking into whether Tamiflu might be effective in swine flu.FOR NOW, everyone can make their own decisions on this -- do what you will. However, I would not particularly have a warm, fuzzy feeling if I needed to ride on a NY Subway to work come Monday morning...
Yup...Chapin25 had the thought before ME...Pig Flu.
I heard earlier today he had food poisoning.
