Napolitano Draws Resignation Calls After Gaffes on Veterans, Canada
Fox News ^ | April 23, 2009 | Catherine Herridge

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is under fire for what critics see as a string of gaffes, with a small but vocal group of conservatives calling for her to step down.

The outrage continues to build over a report from her department that warned of the danger of right-wing "extremists," and singled out returning war veterans as susceptible to recruitment.

Napolitano expressed regret for the reference to veterans -- but she raised eyebrows again this week when she suggested that the Sept. 11 hijackers entered the United States through Canada, even though the 9/11 Commission determined they came to the United States from overseas.

"I don't know that the secretary understands the depth of the disruption that she's caused," Rep. Michael Burgess, R-Texas, told FOX News on Thursday, referring to the report on extremist threats. "I think the appropriate thing to do is for her to step down and let's move on."

Conservatives made a stern call for her ouster Wednesday night on the House floor.

"Mr. President, fire that woman," said Rep. John Carter, R-Texas, complaining that Napolitano's comments on the controversial report were half-hearted. "To go on television and say your apology to be, 'I'm sorry you were offended by this report,' that's no apology."

Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., also said Napolitano's resignation is in order, and she should be brought before Congress for a hearing.

Napolitano on Thursday acknowledged the criticism and reiterated that the extremist report was "not well written" and should not have been released in that form. She said she would meet with the leadership of the American Legion on Friday over the reference to returning war veterans.

But she rebuffed those who say an apology is not enough.

"That's what they're going to get," Napolitano said.

“Grassfire” conservative group sent me a petition to sign re demanding Napolitano’s resignation. Signed it and sent it right off! Don’t have a link but it’s easy enough to find, I’m sure.

I would really like to know how she managed to get to the Governor's office in what used to be a pretty Conservative state. Could you enlighten us all?

I suspect you all have motor-voter also. Is that the case? Ever since motor-voter was implemented in California the Dems have had a lock on this state's higher offices. Yes, I acknowledge that Governor Shriver is not a Republican even though he calls himself one.

My quarrel is not with this embattled woman. This I will leave to Americans. She has to placate the Hispanic people with declaring that equal sanctions at the borders, will be applied. No profiling.

My moment of guarded satisfaction came at the Canadian MSM. They had shilled for Barack Obama in the presidential election. One thing though, they are that clever and it was done in a surreptitious manner. The scarcely disguised "tingle" voices and smirks. The flaunting of pro-Obama expatriates in Toronto and so on.

Mark Steyn mentioned the Globe and Mail, a liberal Canadian newspaper and a journalist. The man declared that "they have sent us a Bush era appointee" or similar words. This about a former Democratic governor of Arizona.

I would observe this; that the name Bush may be used as they have used the name McCarthy. They will not let up. They will never admit that the old adage holds true. Be careful what you wish for, you may get it.

And didn’t she, just a few weeks back, deny that the Mexican drug wars had any spillover into the U.S.? The so-called apology to veterans - wasn’t it something like, “if anyone was offended by this, they are owed an apology”? Do you suppose she thinks she can just keep this up? Don’t you think 0bama will get fed up with this or that he would have shut her up by now? Seems like she is out without a leash.

All the more reason we conservatives need to promote Chris Simcox—you see Carl Cameron on Fox yesterday? He didn’t seem to poo-poo the idea—just the McCain has so much more money!

"critics see as a string of gaffes.."

They were not gaffes. They were momentary outbreaks of honesty and candidity on her part. She didn't misspeak, she said (or wrote) what she really believes.

The Left is trying to spin this as if it were a typo, or a problem with sentence structure.

Not so. This is a problem with moonbat ideology.

She didn’t practically do anything of the sort! She DID lable all conservatives potential terrorist threats that must be watched. She also went on to say the same damned thing about our returning veterans. She needs to resign, and now!

These appointments are not an O.J.T. position. These appointments appear to be really off the wall and I can not figure out what he’s really up to( or the ones pulling his strings)

Will her outrages never cease? Now she's nailing poor ol' Hef..........

Napolitano revises Extemism list, says Hugh Hefner's causing global silicone shortage. "I'm no boob," Hef asserts.

DHS Secy Janet (Butch) Napolitano said: "I am revising the Extremism Threat list and am adding Hugh Hefner to the list. At the G-8 summit, Pres Obama was appraised of global concerns that the world is running out of silicone. Hugh Hefner was named as the chief cause. Global leaders say the shortage is due to boobs, and blamed the US. "

The Smiling Messiah speaks: "I applaud Secy Napolitano for defending the world against boobs. I told world leaders it's America's fault---Hefner is causing the silicone shortage and is the source of America's chronic obsession with boobs. I've asked VP Viden to investigate the size and scope of boob jobs, and to report his (cough) findings to me."

=========================================

Hugh Hefner is accused of personally causing a silicone shortage and aiding and abetting America's chronic obsession with big boobs. Hefner denies the charge. Says he's not a boob.

"I'm no boob. The government is coming after me just because I'm financially hung and b/c I can't get it up without a forklift and duct tape. My TV show was cancelled, I'm selling the mansion and all my sex toys and orgy equipment. My Bunny Clubs closed, even my private jet is gone. Everything went downhill after Boobie, er, I mean Barbie, left me. "

"That's what they're going to get," Napolitano said.

Reminds me of the profane Neapolitan/Sicilian expression, "O quest' o cazz' " -- "it's this or balls" -- in other words, "take it or leave it."

B*tch.

There was a big Indian bill out the first year she was elected. The guy running was a Mormon fellow whose motto may as well have been, "Vote for Matt Salmon. He's a nice guy."

I remember as attorney general she took on a USSC case for Arizona about judges deciding death penalty cases. She was too busy to meet with the daughter of the victim of the murderer this case would affect.

Then, shortly after becoming governor, a traditional homeschooling day event at the capitol that the previous governor had started she refused to support because it might "upset her shareholders". She then told the homeschoolers who were there that she was "too busy" to meet with them.

She rammed through the naming of a mountain from Squaw Peak to Piestewa Peak -- even though the timing was against the laws.

WHen things went good she took credit. WHen they went south, she became in charge of homeland security.

Napolitano Draws Resignation Calls After Gaffes on Veterans, Canada

I don't think the 'Veteran' thing was a gaffe, but an actual reflection of the 0bama regime's thinking. Who among that gang served? Also, Veterans are more likely to challenge the anti - Constitutional moves of zer0's regime and certainly don't support that wimp.
