BAGHDAD - The suspected leader of an al-Qaida-linked militant network was captured Thursday by Iraqi military forces.
Abu Omar al-Baghdadi has been a key target for U.S. and Iraqi forces for years as the leader of the Islamic State of Iraq, an umbrella group of Sunni militant factions that is believed dominated by al-Qaida in Iraq.

Thanks for the ping; post; information.
You are welcome my FRiend.
“Reportedly Omar AL Baghdadi is a made up guy with a made up name”
Which makes this capture all the more amazing!
If the military had been this good with that OTHER commander in chief... Sheesh!
Obama will be serving him lobster and Filet mignon at a formal white house dinner. He will then reside in the Lincoln bedroom for a period of 8 - 10 weeks while Obama apologizes for his capture and for making him a terrorist.
He may even be presented with a medal after he is given a presidential pardon.
After which time, he will be given a high paying job with either ACORN, AIG or another multi billion dollar business of his choosing that the government will take over to make amends.
Unless of course he would rather just prefer to take his American citizenship and collect government checks, health care and buy a million dollar home that can be financed right through a few of Obama’s contacts. (and defaulted on later naturally)
Should make things alright don’t you think?

.
Yup
We got a lot of milage out of your animated figure
You have enjoyed it more than most any other gif.
I agree with you completely. And Obama will think he can disarm them with a smile.
“The suspected leader of an al-Qaida-linked militant network was captured Thursday by Iraqi military forces.”
You can bet that credit will not go to American forces anymore. The American forces will let the Iraqis “make” the capture. That way there will be more than waterboarding this guy and others that follow. This is a way around our political handwringers.
I would think the capture was given to the Iraqis presisely to keep him out of the warm embrace of The Marxist Onada.
Despite this having occured some days ago I’ve nothing in he media about it. Have I missed something?
I will try but it is going to be hard.
I got just the right person for the job:
Sorry!
(snickers in background)
;-)
Appears that his capture is confirmed today:

This was a straight up Iraqi operation, if it bears out, a real coup for them.
Excellent news.
Thanks for the follow up.
Thanks very much for the follow-up ping and link. Very good news! (been offline since Saturday...storms in SE Michigan knocked out power & cable where I live)

SNIPPET: “Editors note: I am delighted to introduce a new contributor, Truls Tønnessen, who is a FFI research fellow as well as a PhD candidate in History at the University of Oslo. He works on jihadism in Iraq and will be covering Iraq for Jihadica.
The alleged arrest of the emir of al-Qaida led Islamic State of Iraq (ISI), Abu Umar al-Baghdadi, has not incited a torrent of reactions on the jihadi web forums so far. Interestingly, the major Iraqi insurgent groups, including the ISI itself, have not commented upon the alleged arrest.
There may be several reasons for this lack of reactions.”
