One in Three Children Fear Earth Apocalypse [As reported by Al Gore's website!]
Current TV (owned by Al Gore) ^ | April 21, 2009

There's a new bogeyman lurking in the closet, and this one isn't imaginary. Us. One out of three children aged 6 to 11 fears that Ma Earth won't exist when they grow up, while more than half—56 percent—worry that the planet will be a blasted heath (or at least a very unpleasant place to live), according to a new survey.

Commissioned by Habitat Heroes and conducted by Opinion Research, the telephone survey polled a national sample of 500 American preteens—250 males and 250 females.

On a sliding scale of anxieties, minority kids have it worst; 75 percent of black children and 65 percent of Hispanic children believe that the planet will be irrevocably damaged by the time they reach adulthood.

Interestingly enough, kids vex over the state of the planet, especially when it came to safe and clean air and water, regardless of any pro-environmental measures on the part of their parents. A staggering 95 percent of the children surveyed said their parents pitched in by recycling, using rechargeable batteries, and conserving water and electricity.

"We commissioned the survey as a result of my own childrens' experiences with the recent fires in Australia as they expressed much concern for both their safety and the planet’s,” said Sharon Lowe, founder of Habitat Heroes, in a press release. “While it is upsetting to hear how many children in the United States have expressed similar concerns, I am more committed than ever to help educate children around the globe in a way that is not scary to them.”

Other interesting findings

50 percent say that hurricanes and tornadoes are the natural disasters that scare them the most.

28 percent say that they fear animals, such as polar bears and penguins, will become extinct and disappear from the planet more than any other environmental concern.

Girls worry more

67 percent of girls ages 9-11 versus 60 percent of boys ages 9-11 worry that the earth won’t be as good a place to live when they're adults.

57% of girls ages 6-8 versus 43 percent of boys ages 6-8 worry that the earth won’t be as good a place to live when they're adults. Urban kids are more anxious than suburban kids

59 percent of kids in metro areas are more concerned that the Earth won’t be as good a place to live when they grow up compared to non-metro kids (47 percent).

Should be in the American Journal of Psychology as a case of mass brainwashing.

Fear is a motivator for Change, even if it is artificially generated. I reckon Algore's website enjoys reporting this, whether true or not.

If they were not bombarded with propaganda all the time they would not be terrorized.

Should have been around in the 60's. The Autolite plant near me would burn the insulation off scrap wires a couple of times a week, the sky around it would be pitch black with smoke for hours and we used to chase the little black curlicues that came floating down from the sky.

If that wasn't enough we used to play in a creek near a cloth dyeing mill, your legs would come out whatever color they were using that day, royal blue legs were cool. We weren't stupid enough to dip our heads in it.

After that, a couple of smokes, a chunk of ham, cheese and tomato on Wonder Bread with Miracle Whip, a few hot dogs and two or three bottles of Yahoo we were ready for a peaceful nights sleep.

Well the media constantly tell us how smart kids(sometimes up to 25 year olds) are and that we should pay heed to their opinions, but then the media excuses their most minor or major responsibilities. Give me a damn break. Either they are mature or not!

I wonder if in 1939 Der Stürmer had surveyed German children, would they have found that one in three feared the Jew? The fact that only one in three children is an ecochondriac seems, in the face of relentless indoctrination, like a failure of the luddite propaganda machine.

Advocates of free markets, Christo-Judaic tradition, Western Civilization and industrial progress have a hard enough time as it is. Our story doesn't fit on a bumper sticker. It's easy to make cartoonish illustrations of disaster scenarios or charactures of Jews, it's a lot harder to make reasoned arguments, or moral imperative of treating all people fairly.

With Hollywood making apocolyptic movies. The History channel keeps telling us that a meteor will hit , Al Gore and the Greenies screaming th sky is falling , is there any wonder whay children are frightend.

And why narrow it down to children,Half the Greenies and envirowhackos and 2/3 of the librals are also frightened. How serious is the problem when they tell us not to eat meat because cow farts are destroying the atmosphere and causing Global warming. Do you know how utterly stupid that sounds?

These stats are a result of teachers who have zero qualms about drawing children into adult issues.

I'm sick of these tactics.

A kid should be a kid.

There are at least two children who don’t listen to Algore except as comedy material.

Yesterday while instant messaging with each other, one sent a picture to the other of him with the caption “Goober of the Day”. They were practically rolling on the floor laughing.

Well..., please then..., make sure you show these little kiddies the following documentary. You don’t need *anything else* show the kiddies or the adults, other than this *one*. Carry it around with you everywhere you go...

It’s one thing to gripe and complain about these things and disagree with it, but it’s quite *another* to convince your friends and neighbors and relatives and coworkers...

THEREFORE..., it’s also absolutely necessary for people to know the information in the following documentary. If there were simply *one* video that you could see and/or show people you know... this would be the *one*...

The following is an *excellent* video documentary on the so-called “Global Warming” I would recommend it to all FReepers. It’s a very well-made documentary.

“The Great Global Warming Swindle”

If you want to download it, via a BitTorrent site (using a BitTorrent client), you can get it at the following link.
http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/3635222/The_Great_Global_Warming_Swindle
[this is a high-quality copy, of about a gigabyte in size...]

It’s worth seeing and having for relatives, friends, neighbors and coworkers to see.

Also, see it online here...
http://www.moviesfoundonline.com/great_global_warming_swindle.php
[this one is considerably lower quality, is a flash video and viewable online, of course...]

Buy it here...

[this one would be the very highest quality version, on a DVD disk, of several gigabytes in size...]

Today is Lenin’s birthday (4/22/1870). The first Earth Day marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Lenin.
A day greenies everywhere rub our noses in their success at converting us to a socialist nation and infiltrating our schools, government and way of life with their lack of morals, and destructive ways.
They scare our children with tales of Appocalypse and terror.

“67 percent of girls ages 9-11 versus 60 percent of boys ages 9-11 worry that the earth won’t be as good a place to live when they’re adults.”
*************************

And in the early Sixties, millions of American children were instructed to hide under their desk, not knowing if it was time to kiss their ass goodbye that day.

It will be interesting to see how this generation of yutes turn out. I’m betting it will look like the Idiocracy.
