Zero proposes a 3.6 trillion dollar budget, and hopes to pass another 700+ billion dollar 'stimulus' - and asks for a 100 million dollar spending 'trim'......

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama told agency heads to trim spending by $100 million, a largely symbolic effort that foreshadows bigger budget fights down the road.

Responding to Republican lawmakers -- and some ordinary voters -- who complained that his policy proposals are too costly, Mr. Obama told cabinet chiefs to find the savings in current operations and report back within 90 days.

The president acknowledged at his first cabinet meeting that the new effort wouldn't put much of a dent in the budget deficit. But in combination with other budget-cutting efforts, "cumulatively they make an extraordinary difference because they start setting a tone," Mr. Obama said. "A hundred million there, a hundred million here, pretty soon even in Washington, it adds up to real money."

Someone earlier said this was like buying a million dollar house on a $50k income and asking your wife to turn the light over the stove off to save money.

This like asking you to skip the 35 cent sprinkles on your Starbucks latte to trim your annual budget.

It isn’t even suggesting you skip the Starbucks latte.

Cut $100 million out of $700 BILLION?

$100,000,000.00 vs. $700,000,000,000.00??

ROFLMAO!

Tell ya what, Zero. Give me the difference and I’ll start my own Republic, LOL!

What a bunch of dopes we have running the show these days.

I read this is equivalent to a $60K /yr household income cutting back $6.00 /yr on their budget.

Funny and pathetic all at the same time.

Did he also ask the cabinet secretaries to look under their seat cushions for spare change???

I'm not looking under Hillary's seat cushion, I don't care HOW much change is under there.

From the press room;

Q — (inaudible) the people want to know. On the domestic side, just again to draw you on this $100 million. When Republicans were criticizing earmarks and also provisions in the stimulus bill like the contraceptives, the President repeatedly returned to the theme that this was a small amount of the overall package. And I don’t see how it cannot be construed as a double standard to have him say, well, that’s a small amount, but this $100 million that I’m saving, that’s really important. How is that not a double standard?

MR. GIBBS: Well, let’s not also mix apples and oranges here, because the point that we were making was that whatever that amount is, it shouldn’t stand in the way of an even greater commitment to help our economy recover and to invest in the things that the President believed were important for long-term growth.

Q Well, on the earmarks, though, the earmarks was the same —

MR. GIBBS: Same thing.

Q No, it was — he was saying, look, this isn’t a big deal; it’s just a small part of this overall big bill, and why hang it up over something small?

MR. GIBBS: Well, I think we covered many of those arguments at the time. We also were dealing with last year’s omnibus appropriations bill. Again, we’re going to have to make cuts in programs that don’t work. We’re going to have to find administrative savings where previously people didn’t think there were savings. We’re going to have to look at programs, big and small, in order to get this country back on a path toward fiscal sustainability.

We’re not going to do it with one thing; it’s going to be many, many things over the course of many, many years that gets us back on the road to fiscal sanity, whether it’s a $600 toilet seat or whether it’s the mind-set that believes that the old way of doing business is perfectly acceptable. That’s exactly what this President was elected to challenge and that’s exactly what he’s done.

Are you kidding... charity-Joe Biden and that bunch of tax cheats probably lingers after church weddings and funerals to check all the pew cushions for spare change

Not sure of the math but it is reported that depending on over what time period the cuts (?) take place it will work out to 0.0029% of the budget. Makes me proud. NOT!
