'Ammunition Accountability' Legislation. (No ammo sales after 6/30/2009)
email | 4/20/2009

Posted on 04/20/2009 2:33:55 PM PDT by IbJensen

Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009.

It has already started: 'Ammunition Accountability' Legislation.

Remember how Obama said that he wasn't going to take your guns? Well, it seems that his allies in the anti-gun world have no problem with taking your ammo!

The bill that is being pushed in 18 states (including Illinois and Indiana) requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacturer, a data base of all ammunition sales. So, they will know how much you buy and what calibers. Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the ammunition is coded.

Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011. (Including hand loaded ammo.) They will also charge a 05 cent tax on every round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more! If they can deprive you of ammo they do not need to take your gun! This legislation is currently pending in 18 states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.

Inform your friends in these states AND fight to dissolve this BILL!

To find more about the anti-gun group that is sponsoring this legislation and the specific legislation for each state, go to:

Depending on Nov 2010, a lot of private ammo may be “tested” shortly thereafter.

If you knew that the news was one year old, that the proposal had been voted on and not passed in any of the states you mentioned, then you should have so noted.

If you knew and did not so note, then the post amounts to a fabrication because you posted it as something current to be concerned about now.

It may be that it is something about which we should be reminded so that we don't go to sleep.

But the fact remains that you posted it as news, not as history, and that makes it a fabrication.

In short, it makes you look foolish.

You owe it to the rest of us to be specific.

You also owe an apology and a smart remark that you print all of the news that is fit to print when in fact that was not news is a further insult to all of us.

I was in a hurry last night and copied the article to two sites without researching. When I learned of the facts, I immediately apologized to everyone who read that information.

You should do the same.

If you got suckered by an email that was not accurate, a quick apology would make a lot of difference to your readers.

Keep checking the http://www.ccrkba.org/pub/rkba/press-releases/ammunition.stamping.htm website for updates on this. It is a good spot for summary of issues like this.

Obama will seek these 4 elements in a gun bill

1. An expanded HR 45, gun owner licensing. All gun owners will have to have these licenses, even owners of facilimie weapons (AKA Airsoft and BB). Licenses will only be granted if the records of the applicant are clean (This includes misdemeanors from decades ago). Licenses will have high renewal fees ($100-300/yr). Licensees will be required to hold $1 million in liability insurance. Possession of otherwise permitted weapons (See #3) without license is a felony.

2. Ammunition accountability... All ammo will be required to be microstamped and will be taxed $1/round. All non stamped ammo will be required to be turned in or thrown away. Possession of non-marked ammo is a felony. This part of the act also bans “Cop Killer” bullets. Furthermore, this will require the gun to leave a microstamp of its own on the ammo. (BTW, this will also affect law enforcement and military ammunition stocks, as they will be required to have stamps of their own)

3. Expanded “Assault Weapons” ban— This includes most all semiauto rifles, anything that can be “Bump Fired”, Semiauto handguns, and Semi-auto shotguns. It also includes pump-action shotguns and “Sniper Rifles” AKA your deer rifle. The AWB will also require people with “Prebans” to register their guns as Machine Guns, and that the tax stamp will go up to $10,000 per weapon. If you can’t afford this, you have to turn the weapon in without compensation...

4. Expansion of the Lautenberg amendment: Removes “Domestic Violence” as disqualifier to gun ownership, inserts any misdemeanor as disqualifer... Anyone with a misdemeanor on their record will be prohibited from owning a firearm. This includes DUI and traffic offenses, and offenses decades ago.

Finally, all CCW permits will be voided. Also, all gun and ammo imports will be banned.

Yes, and it looks like these were from 2008. But the bad guys keep trying. Evil never lets up.

Keep only a small amount, hide the bulk of it elsewhere, but somewhere close and with easy access. It’s pretty easy, spread it around. PVC is your friend.

Well, our legislooture (MD) is out of session, so unless O’Moron calls a special session, we’re safe from this bill for the year.

Looks like soon I’ll be buying ammo in Delaware. Maybe Virginia or even WV if I’m around there.

The MSP asked that the ammo registration bill be pulled after MUCH scrutiny. I’m sure we’ll see it reintroduced next year as well.

It may be that it is something about which we should be reminded so that we don't go to sleep.

I agree. I'm fine with people posting old stories as long as the update to them is included. We don't want to appear as irrational as the left often does.

And it is a good idea to remember - often - that bills like this have been considered and will show up again and again. When they deem they can get away with it.
