Slouching Toward Columbine: Darwin's Tree of Death
April 20, 2009
David Klinghoffer
I've long been fascinated by the image of the Tree of Death, parallel to the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden and cryptically referred to in mystical texts explaining the Hebrew Bible:
And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the Tree of Life also in the midst of the garden, and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (Genesis 2:9).
Come and behold: as soon as night falls, the Tree of Death rules in the world and the Tree of Life disappears high above. Then the Tree of Death is the sole ruler in the universe, and all inhabitants of the world taste of death (Zohar III:119a).
The image, and today's gruesome Columbine anniversary, provide an occasion to reflect on Darwinian evolution's social consequences, from school shootings to Nazi racism and more.
Charles Darwin's theory of evolution with its Tree of Life is applauded by most sophisticated Americans and Europeans as a scientific idea pure and simple, without the aura of dread and terror that, properly, should surround it in our minds.
Why should we so regard it? Not necessarily because of any judgment about whether the idea is right or wrong as science, but rather because of the uncanny way evolution has had of supplying the rationale and creating the backdrop for the most twisted, monstrous social movements that have sprung up in Western culture in the past century and half.
On April 20, 1999, two boys at Columbine High School in Colorado massacred 12 fellow students and a teacher, wounding 23 as well before shooting themselves...

I have posted a plethora of articles and scientific papers demonstrating that Darwood’s materialist creation myth has been refuted by science. In addition to Darwin’s so-called ToE being false, it also turns out that it is EVIL, as evidenced by Nazism, Communism, and a host of other -isms that are premised on Darwood’s natural selection god.
You’re evading my question.
>> the raid on Waco in 1993. Sad how these historical tragedies connect.
Indeed. And STILL, useful idiots play in the woods and boast of plans to “file down pins”.
Apparently the impotence of the HUGE caches of automatic weapons available in Iraq is not a lesson some USEFUL IDIOTS have observed.
Might as well call the ATF and invite them for Tea, as Koresh essentially did.
Observe what Gandhi did IDIOTS, and recognize that the ability of government to martial force far exceeds that of the citizenry.
Gandhi was a realist; not a pacifist.
Do not empower the would-be Oligarchs with your stupidity.
[[the only prevention is good parenting which we obviously cannot guarantee.]]
Teahcing about God, teaching universal moral values, and good parenting are the only htigns that will mostly eliminate these types of tragedies (Yes, even Christian folks can go off deep end once in awhile, but very rarely- certainly NOT as much as the godless (And folks- don’t be pointign to hte ‘crusades’ either- those were godless secularists parading aroudn as Christians when htey most certainly werte not)- but sadly, the left wants to eradicate ALL of htese, and htne turn aroudn shrugging hteir sdhoulders and wondering ‘what in the world went wrong!?” Acting all shocked and confused abotu the violence- but like Mr.B said, which beaers repeating here:
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
I'd love to see your source for this.
As far as scientists go, Newton had a lot more to do with Communism than Darwin.
You are waaayyy behind the times. I was not refering to Darwinism, or neo-Darwinism. I was referencing the growing chorus of Evos who realize Darwood’s materialist creation myth is being falsified by science on all sides, and thus they are now (and increasingly desperately) calling for a NEW EVOLUTIONARY SYNTHESIS.
It means that most of the posters on GGGs threads understand the implications of Darwoods so-called theory better than you do.
_______
That’s cute, but my comment related to their knowledge of the theory itself, not the made-up implications that your friends cop from AiG.
Trying to score anti-Darwin points on the backs of the Columbine killers cheapens both the evolution debate, as well as the Columbine shootings. Congrats on that.
Now how in the world does the idiocy of those juvenile murderers have anything to do with Darwin? That is the most ridiculous tie in that you’ve posted yet GGG.
Wasn’t that Blondie’s husband in the comic strip?
You’ve gone over the edge on this one. Get back on your meds and step awaaaaay from the computer.
There is likewise no doubt that the Columbine killers had the same level of understanding about evolution and natural selection as do most of the posters on GGGs threads.
To use Klebold and Harris as a hammer against Darwins theory aptly demonstrates that level of understanding.
Ummmm...exactly what level of understanding does one need????
...the only understanding most proponents of darwinism here exhibit is any and every criticism of their cult is attacked as a religious assault on science.
It’s kind of impossible to accuse someone of using anything as a hammer against the cult of Darwin with this fact in front of your nose.

godless secularists parading aroudn as Christians when htey most certainly werte not
I’d love to see your source for this.
What...you don’t think liberals hijack Christianity, just as they’ve hijacked everything and anything else they touch?
I can think of one right off the top of my head!

Easy Panther - your passion overwhelms your reason.
Easy Panther - your passion overwhelms your reason.
Riiiiiight, so show us some serious criticism of evolution by a non-evolutionist that’s not atacked as some religious right wing attack.
If you can find ANYTHING...I’m sure it’ll amount to less than 1/10th of 1% at best, judging by these threads.
