Wouldn’t even think of moving to the coastal area. Dh went to school in San Angelo, and he has family in just about every area of the state. Wherever we moved, if we ever do, we’d be near family, which is a big plus. :o)
Take away air conditioning and many parts of the South become unlivable for many due to the way people have become accustomed to live today.
Agreed, and that includes this Texan, who did not have AC living in Houston until I went off to college.
FREEP THIS POLL ***PING!*** FRmail me if you want to be added or removed from the Fearless Poll-Freeping Freepers Ping list. And be sure to ping me to any polls that need Freepin', if I miss them. (looks like a medium volume list) (gordongekko909, founder of the pinglist, stays on the list until his ghost signs up for the list)
Freeped.
86% say hasta la vista
13% say stay
I moved to Phoenix from LA, Cali in 1989. I had to run the heater in the first summer there or my car would overheat. I was doing construction work so I was pretty used to the heat anyway. Summer in Tucson is a little cooler and it’s still my favorite time of the year here. I’m usually the only one outdoors during the heat of the day so it’s really peaceful. I still like my AC at night though.
when I lived in houston, the saying went..
“houston absolutely has four seasons..there’s early summer, summer, late summer and this thing called “august””..
It ain’t bumpy enough.
I likes my mountains. ;-)
You don’t consider freeway overpasses as mountains?? :)
lol. True!
Ditto.....
Why make that sarcasm? It’s a great idea.
I’ll be part of your caravan. I live in New York as well.
Outa here! Texas would have a boom in growth, real estate would sky rocket.
Secede Yes: 86%
Secede No: 13%
Odd. You only get two choices, but the tally is only 99%. Odd.

I’ve driven past it a Hundred times. It’s especially nice at night.
I have indeed; lived and worked there, and I can tell you, I'll take Houston in August over the finest day that's ever dawned in Detroit!
Good, good!
You're absolutely right! Stay right where you are, life in Texas is much too tough, and we already have all the folks we need.
Climate here is miserable and getting worse, you really wouldn't want to move here!
I agree with you; my mother used to live near Tucson; summer's the only time of year I've been there, and I like it just fine.
Besides, Mount Lemon(?) isn't that far away...
Right now, 2084 votes, 86% yes, 13% no. I would say the poll CNN took with 500 people was just a tad off.
Oops, 2804 votes, 86% yes!
Mt. Lemmon. I never go there any more. The drive is terrible with all the traffic and the heat doesn’t bother me on the desert floor.. I’ve been to Wisconsin and summer is worse there with the humidity (don’t tell anybody because we have enough people here already).
