“Ever been to Houston in August?”
Yes, I live here.
Better than New England in February, where I also lived for 6 years.

I'd much rather endure a cold winter than a hot, humid summer. Not even close.

Drudge's headline is a link to
this Rasmussen Reports article, which is also another "Rassmussen Special" fabricated push poll against Rick Perry, and for Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Sailboats, swimming pools, and bikinis. Makes those hot, humid summers seem like a pleasure.

It maybe a lot colder than you think though once the Republic of Texas closes the oil and gas spigots.
Besides oil and gas, we have lots of energy in the form of wind(largest in country) and nuclear, and are unafraid of building more.
Can generate plenty of air conditioning in homes, businesses and cars.

When I said that it might be worthwhile to read the other thread again, I was trying to say that the topic in the previous thread is relevant to the discussion in this thread and might provide more food for thought.

Sailboats, swimming pools, and bikinis. Makes those hot, humid summers seem like a pleasure. The little bit of farm work I did growing up in the South gave me enough heat and humidity to last a lifetime. When I think of summer I think more of sweat than sailboats.
To: bestintxas
Can generate plenty of air conditioning in homes, businesses and carsTake away air conditioning and many parts of the South become unlivable for many due to the way people have become accustomed to live today.

Not me. I was born in Texas and lived my whole life here. My first car's AC died two years after I bought it in 1992. I drove that car for 5 more years in Houston and Austin without AC and I could have had it repaired for $500. Screw AC, if the lack of it keeps yankees away then I would say pass a law to ban them.

It’s hot. Damned hot. Most of the year. And the mosquitos will carry away small children. And there are hurricanes, big, nasty, gulf filling hurricanes that can turn us into the 3rd world in hours.

Easy to say, hard to really mean.
That said, it’s nice to see Texas jumping into the 10th Amendment tea party with both feet. I thought we were strangely absent when this movement started catching fire. It seems like an issue tailor made for us.
Do you know why all the original buildings on the University of Texas were built with their doors facing south?
