Treaties only need a filibusterer proof majority in the senate.

Thanks to Al Franken, that could happen. Scary.

Probably about $600 bucks.

You should spend an extra 2k and pick up a 1919 belt fed!

In case you missed it, William Bennett this morning on CNN made the statement that Obama’s claim of 90 percent of guns reaching the Cartels in Mexico is bunk - the reality is that of the guns that have been recovered from these drug cartels the Mexican authorities claim 90 percent of the guns with registration numbers come from the U.S. - but this number is only 10 to 15 percent of the total number of guns that have been recovered. Most of the guns being purchased by these drug cartels come from the world market and not from the U.S. That makes sense, given the degree of gun control placed upon gun dealers in this country. If it were 90 percent of all the guns sold to these cartels came from the U.S., then were are the massive raids being conducted by the ATF, FBI, and DEA upon suspected gun dealers in the U.S. who are selling these guns????? There are no massive raids because most of these guns are not coming from this country and the Obama admin is lying.

Not really. And don’t take this personal. I’m just attempting to address the issue in an academic manner.

There are times when it’s probably best to error on the side of prudence. That’s my view, and it doesn’t mean an opposing view would be wrong on this matter.

I’d rather not go out there wondering if I would get hassled, but rather enjoy the experience for what it was sans the sword.

A car is just as deadly as a gun in the hands of an incompetent, drunk, other criminal, or madman. It’s very easy to buy a car, then drive it into a crowd on the street, etc etc. It’s impossible to legislate, regulate or prevent every action that a driver might take, just as it is impossible to control every action a gun owner might take. Some people will commit DUI and vehicular manslaughter (Ted Kennedy is a good example), some people will drive when they have poor eyesight, hearing and judgment, and some people will shoot their neighbor.

I agree that a person who is not really willing to use his gun in self defense probably should skip buying one.

You mentioned “secession”. I didn’t say anything about it. Why did you?

"Treaties need only 2 out of ANY 3 senators to agree with the president (no quorum necessary), and the treaty is law."

Correct me if I'm wrong on this, but doesn't the Congress have to be in session in order for any laws or treaties to be considered? And aren't the laws and treaties put on the docket to be considered for votes? If this were put on the docket for a day in Congress, I would hope that groups like the NRA would alert us and many lawmakers that this was coming up for a vote.

If implemented, we would see foreign troops on our soil to enforce the implementation of the law. The flavor to it all is the East and money masters in Europe waging war on the American citizen. We always knew the USA would crumble from within but the truth is becoming stranger then fiction. But whether the union called the United States remains intact is less relevant the restoring a Republic when it is all over. In any event it is going to be a bumpy ride. If such a scenerio unfolds, let them come and attempt to take them by force. Take care of your neighbors. If the fit hits the shan this way, we will have long memories and databases exist to exact justice after.

Your correct. Our nation is bankrupt and the wealth is already in the East and some money players in the EU. $8T of fabricated debt is now permanently chained to the American citizen. The Union is already toast and this is slow motion collapse. Our sovereignty is already sold out, the American people are just not fully aware of this fact yet. That is also why every citizen that dissents are all ‘right wingers’ despite your voting registration. The DHS gimmick was a trial balloon, a measured research test if you will. Such actions will be very blatant and brazen within the next three years including arrests and finally, an attempt to confiscate all the arms. When this fails and American’s regain majority of the sovereignty back, then we will have to face of against our true handlers in the East. We will no longer have the military coordination that Federalization brings. It’s going to get very, very ugly.

Think of it like this: What is being done now is similar to what we did to the native American Indians in the Eminent Domain strategy. There are very few armed populations on earth left. We are the biggest. The world will attempt to disarm the American citizen. There was a brief time where GWB was going against the plan but he snapped back in line. Obama continuing unabated. He is not thinking in terms of reelection in 2012. He is thinking in terms covering him and his families’ own ass, quite literally. I am probably preaching to the choir but some reading this it will be new info. I am sure some jackass here will tell me again I am agent Rex or some other stupid comment. I just study history and economics. I am a data guy. Simple as that.

The section displayed below is silent on Congressional Session. It may very be TRADITIONAL to be in session, but there is no mention of it. Besides, do you know who can declare Congress in session at whim (despite "traditional" courtesies)? (Hmmm. Courtesy and Obama. I don't recall seeing those two words in the same sentence before.)

Yep. Citizen powered media. Ghobbels in reverse. Got some interesting ideas about satellite peer-to-peer online. The Internet will be shut down in the not too distant future.

***Update*** For a unsettling example of how things may not work out as you and I would like them, I have below another section of the Constitution with the same structure as the one in question. The accepted reading of this delineation is (Power to fill up all vacancies that may happen) (during the Recess of the Senate, by...) and NOT (vacancies that may happen during the recess of the Senate, by...).

For a recent example: GWB appointed John Bolton as Ambassador to the UN during a recess of Congress even though the vacancy did not occur during such a recess.

Thus I think we have VERY good precedent to be troubled by the wording of Article VI, Clause 2.

If you can go on to finally allay my fears here, I'd certainly appreciate your effort.

under the Authority of the United States,

Although we agree to our interpretation of these words, they can in fact be construed to mean just about anything. For example, as CIC, the President could negotiate and the Senate ratify a treaty surrendering the militia to the UN. As CIC, military surrender is under his authority.

In short, they are weasel words because they can be used that way, not the ironclad limit we see in them. There are lots of ways the limits could have been stated that the Founders chose NOT to use for reasons I cover in Skinning Cats.

I found nothing in your analysis that I would question.

We are seeing the alignment of the Globalist, the Left, and the Muslim world against the remaining Christians and Jews. They do not all know they are on the same team yet, but they will, and so will the rest of us.

I have read the last chapter of “the book” and I know which side I wish to stand on. Ultimately those who oppose Israel will be destroyed. It will be a rocky ride until then.

I promise, I will not be a “good little Dhemmi”.

And I am a history student also.

Thanks PghBaldy for your excellent catch that The Washington Post changed their original article. When I read that “US gun-rights groups participated as observers in drafting the treaty, which experts say includes language stating that it does not impinge on the U.S. Constitution's Second Amendment"---it sounded really fishy to me!
