What Are Tax Day Tea Parties Protesting? About these tax-day tea parties: It's obviously fine if citizens want to exercise their first amendment rights and hold protests. Admirable, even. And if these protests are underwritten by corporate backers or supported by various media organizations (there seems to be some debate about this), that's OK too. First Amendment rights all round! But what I don't understand is why these rallies are being held to protest, among other things, "higher taxes." (Higher spending is another matter.) There is a widespread perception that Obama is raising taxes willy nilly, so maybe this is worth clearing up...

“underwritten by corporate backers”
there’s no confusion. they’re trying to create some though.
It’s the spending stupid! Spending = Taxation eventually.
The same thing the original tea partiers were protesting. Tyranny.
complete moron. leftwing propaganda
They are not confused. They know exactly what we are protesting.
Leftists believe in never-ending deficits. They think inflationary policies are the only way to keep the economy moving.
of course this leads to tyranny
The Designated Hitter rule.
I don't think I've ever met any one named Conor who didn't need a slap in the face.
More evidence they do not teach in Universities anymore....they talk to you and you must listen...If these people had a critical thought in their head they would realize....it has everything to do with the loss of our Liberties...the same that give them the right to be dumb as rocks and still matter.....geesh!
READ THE SIGNS AND TALK TO THE PROTESTORS!!!!
Maybe you'll get an idea of what they are protesting?
I don’t know... sounds a lot like work. Libtards don’t like to do that. Might get dirty. Might break a sweat. Maybe even break a nail.
Items covered at the Hartford TEA party:
- Illegal/unethical activities by Chris Dodd
- Unconstitutional use of Federal power in dealings with banking and automakers
- Unconstitutional use of power in the department of Homeland security
- Overspending at the state and federal levels
- Unconstitutional Federal spending (bailouts/TARP)
- Lawmakers who don’t read the laws they approve
Well let’s see, the tea parties sprang in response to CNBC’s host Rick Santelli’s call to protest the government’s mortgage bailout of homeowners. Start there....
They can’t be this stupid. With the expiration of the Bush cuts comes the return of the death tax and the marriage penalty. The does NOT affect only those making over $250,000. The carbon tax will affect every person and industry. The “downpayment” on health care will cost us all dearly.
Above all, we want a return to constitutional government, with a Federal government exercising only its narrowly delineated powers with everything else left to the states and the people.
It’s not that modern journalists are lazy: it’s just that they are not “journalists” at all. They are propagandists who impose their point of view in place of facts, and who pretend to report while editorializing.
the comments @ the Atlantic look a lot like the comments here...LOLs...the Statist sure have their panties in a wad over these peaceful dissenters!
We are protesting idiots like the left wing media and their associates in the democrat party.
Did the Atlantic ever bother to mention that known Communist organizations established the “anti-Iraq war” movement in America?
