DHS, 'Rightwing Extremism' and Information Warfare
The American Thinker ^ | April 15, 2009 | Lance Fairchok

Posted on 04/15/2009 3:17:07 AM PDT by Scanian

The Homeland Security Assessment targeting mainstream conservatism was amateurish, poorly written and its logic absurdly shallow. It's a shot across the bow in the unfolding information warfare.

The DHS Intelligence Assessment Document marked "For Official Use Only" and entitled; Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment, was released to law enforcement agencies nationwide. Its stated purpose was to "deter, prevent, preempt, or respond to terrorist attacks against the United States." Read the entire document here.

If this DHS Assessment is an example of the kind of analysis our decision makers receive from our intelligence agencies, we are in far worse straits than I had imagined. It is amateurish, poorly written and its logic is absurdly shallow. It sounds as if it was cobbled together from bits and pieces of dated research to quickly fill a short notice requirement. I suspect it was not intended to inform or educate law enforcement first responders and decision makers, so much as it was designed to shape their perceptions in the information war the Left is waging on the American people.

Rightwing extremists have capitalized on the election of the first African American president, and are focusing their efforts to recruit new members, mobilize existing supporters, and broaden their scope and appeal through propaganda, but they have not yet turned to attack planning.

The statement "they have not yet turned to attack planning" has the ring of inevitability to it

“Those of you who work for Homeland Security...Is this what you signed on for? To be a new Gestapo? a new STASI? a new NKVD? against your fellow citizens?”

Actually, when they were setting up DHS they hired an ex-KGB general and a STASI Colonel to “advise” them. That was under Bush.

Having a son in the Marines I wrote my congressman, John Boehner and demanded he find out who wrote this report. I told him that if he can't do this then tell DHS to add all the parents of Soldiers, sailors and Marines to their F**king list.

These bastards work for me and I'm pissed!

Yeah there’s nothing at all surprising here.

Except that the report itself is such a hack job.

For example (and there are many examples), quoting from a web page at the nutcase Southern Poverty Law Center, and then refusing to provide even a smidgen of attribution to the SPLC is not only weird and evasive, it’s just hack writing and very unprofessional.

What kind of nitwits are writing these things, and what kind of DHS manager would assent to releasing such a silly pile of dreck?

we are not afraid of them as they are of us, look at who really pays the bills

That is true. It would also be hard for Obama to go after a such a large and diverse group as the Tea Party protestors or conservatives in general, and as you point out, he wants to make sure the money keeps flowing.

I suspect he will find a way of focusing the hatred on one segment of the conservative movement and use harsh action towards them to silence the rest of us, and in addition he will impose increasingly confiscatory taxes on his opponents. I think he also realizes that perhaps he cannot entirely count on everybody in government to support him (think of people like Byrd, who support his policies but don't like the way he's going about it), and this is why he is trying to build up a parallel structure that will be loyal to him alone. I am thinking of things such as his civilian corps that he wants funded at the level of the military.

This could be bait to provoke the people at the Tea Partys today to impose Marshal Law. Be-careful folks.

The Leftists did. Not sure about the holdovers but time will tell.

As a FReeper noted on another thread, check out the 'Properties' of the DHS document, so I did.

This what I found..

Created: Jan. 23, 2007 1:32:54 pm
Modified: April 7, 2009 6:20:27 pm
So this was originally created two years ago when Dubya was POTUS.

Which, per the definitions and 'warning signs' in the document itself - classifies the entire Bush Admin as 'right wing extremists', including Dubya and Cheney. Ain't that just a tad odd??!? (Bizarre is more like it)

And is seems all too convenient that it was modified (revised) and RELEASED after the Marxist Kenyan became POTUS.

So either there were a bunch of leftist moles in the Bush DHS, or some Barry appointed moonbat did a lot of revising to this two year old document in order to please his/her new boss.

The shadow government was alive and well. It permeated and thwarted the Bush Presidency.

Under the report’s same reasoning, the US Constitution is a terrorist document.
And if they read the Declaration of Independence their heads would probably explode.
So true.
