The Escalating War Between Obama and Bush

Former White House adviser Karl Rove's bare-knuckled response to recent statements by Vice President Joe Biden has brought into public view a growing resentment on the part of Bush administration veterans over what they regard as repeated and unwarranted slams from the Obama White House. The current president and his team are being "gratuitous, slightly petty, and slightly obsessive in blaming Bush for things," one former White House adviser told me.

"Completely gratuitous," said another.

"Unfair," said a third.

The hard feelings surfaced after an April 7 interview on CNN in which Biden recounted a visit with George W. Bush. "I remember President Bush saying to me one time in the Oval Office…he said, 'Well, Joe, I'm a leader.'" Biden recalled. "And I said, 'Mr. President, turn around and look behind you. No one's following.'"

A few days later, Rove accused Biden of lying. "It didn't happen," Rove said on Fox News. "He's making these things up out of whole cloth…It is a habit he ought to drop….You should not exaggerate and lie like this when you are the vice president of the United States."

Rove said he had checked with fellow Bushies like former chief of staff Andrew Card and former congressional liaison Candida Wolff, who did not remember anything like Biden's story. What was left unsaid was that while former top White House officials denied it, there was little doubt that the former top White House official, George W. Bush, denied it, too. Rove and the former president stay in touch; it would be very, very surprising for Rove to say something so definitive about Biden without checking with the best possible source for the story, Bush himself.

You know what I find most interesting here? That I can't even remember you because you are indistinguishable from a hundred other Bush-hating, insulting children here whom I remember only as one single steaming pile of swill. Angry pseudo-cons whose only satisfaction is deriding those with whom you disagree.

And yet, you strangely seem to have a detailed memory of who I am. I have clearly made an impression on you to the point that you have gone out of your way to insult my intelligence, my character, my patriotism, and my relationship with my husband.

You must have some sort of obsession with me because I haven't been here for two years. I've been minding my own business, hanging around intelligent, thoughtful, kind patriots (whom I love) and not having to have contact with anyone as disgusting as you.

I also find it fascinating that you admitted that you get pleasure in insulting decent conservative women. What does that make you? And is it the only pleasure you have in your sorry life? Have you thought about getting counseling? Seriously. Have you?

My life is filled with pleasure - first in basking in the love of my Lord, second in the pleasure of my family and a phenomenal husband who makes you look like a little boy by comparison. I have had the incredible pleasure and pride of seeing my son's commander pin a bronze star on his chest for bravery and 200 missions where he distinguished himself in fighting the most dangerous forces in East Baghdad. I have the pleasure of loving my country, and serving it with pride, and in living a life filled with joy and adventure.

But you go ahead and continue to get your "pleasure" by insulting me, even though I haven't any idea why, nor what made you do it. If it makes you feel like a man, go for it. It doesn't hurt me a bit.

So in a way, I'm glad I'm so important to you, Pelham, whoever you are, and because I am, I will try to remember to pray for you so that at some point you will find pleasure in things that are good, and not only in things that are demeaning and crude.

Speaking of pseudo-cons, you never did comment on George W’s brilliant no-down-payment-needed program. And that was certainly a fine speech he gave promoting it, with Dubya congratulating his good friend Franklin Raines for handing out huge sums of taxpayer money to deadbeats. Talk about a sterling example of compassionate conservatism, it just doesn’t get much better than that. It’s even better when you factor in its role in pumping up the housing bubble.

But you flatter yourself believing I give a rat’s ass about all the nonsense you post. I simply remembered you being part of Howlin’s coven of nutcases before you all hopped on your brooms and flew over to WideAwakes in a huff. If you hadn’t found it necessary to jump in on one of my posts I wouldn’t have bothered to tweak your nose. My problem is that I've spent the past two years on a troll-free forum discussing and disagreeing about important issues with thoughtful, intelligent conservative adults, and haven't had to defend myself against punks like you, so I guess I'm out of practice. This post is for the record, since lies have been told here and I don't like lies. I had forgotten how much guys like Pelham and his metrosexual boyfriends were afraid of Howlin, but his obsession here and loony imagination has brought it back to me in living color. LOL!

Howlin and I were friends here, and we argued side by side some of the time, and argued against each other some of the time. There was no connection other than our both being independent women who greatly respect President Bush, and who weren't afraid of the bullies.

When I stopped posting at FR two years ago it was for one reason alone - that the Bush hatred was out of control. My going to the other forum was in no way connected to Howlin, though we were friends there also. In fact, it was another freeper friend who invited me there, and I found it a refuge from the hatred here.

Howlin left there quite a while back, and I'm not even sure where she is now (I thought she was still here, but I don't know).

Since Pelham has, in his overactive imagination, made strange and false accusations here, I'm just clearing the record.

Now back to the Obama - Bush escalating war. :) My apologies to all for the disruptions to this thread. Hopefully since it has been mostly idle, I haven't offended others here.

I'm sorry I fell into your trap and wasted my valuable time defending myself against your lies, but the remarkable thing is that you are clearly not even slightly ashamed that you set that trap deliberately and deceitfully. In fact, you seem proud of it........and that speaks volumes for who you are - or should I say who you are not.

In addition, your chosen target for this self-amusing deceit was an honest, straightforward conservative who loves America with her whole heart, and is always seeking to do what's best for this great nation. There is only one person here for whom people should feel pity, and it's certainly not me.

I will continue to pray for you, Pelham, as I have been doing in my absence these past few days. But you have accomplished your goal, I suppose. You have made me reluctant to post at all on this forum again. Because no matter how many intelligent, mature, thoughtful conservatives there are on FR, people like you greatly diminish its value. What’s midly amusing is that you have managed to convince yourself that I ‘deliberately and deceitfully’ set a trap for you. In fact I paid you absolutely no attention until you posted to me at #49, where you helpfully informed me that I was dumb, oblivious, and blessed with an overactive imagination. I guess that was before you decided to pray for me. ahem.

Apparently the resulting exchange of posts didn’t play out quite the way you imagined it would. Maybe you don’t like being made a fool, maybe you don’t like being mocked. I don’t know. I do know you never bothered to comment on that excellent speech of Dubya’s that I posted in its entirety. You really should tell us how that exemplified the essence of Compassionate Conservatism; or liberal do-gooder spending, which is what it looks like.

But I digress. I’m mystified at what constitutes the “lying through (my) teeth” part. I’d like to know, so that I can hone that skill better, as I can see that it comes in handy. It has you frothing to such a degree you can’t even point out what these most excellent lies are.
