The Escalating War Between Obama and Bush
DC Examiner ^ | April 14, 2009 | Byron York

Posted on 04/13/2009 9:09:34 PM PDT by Scanian

Former White House adviser Karl Rove's bare-knuckled response to recent statements by Vice President Joe Biden has brought into public view a growing resentment on the part of Bush administration veterans over what they regard as repeated and unwarranted slams from the Obama White House. The current president and his team are being "gratuitous, slightly petty, and slightly obsessive in blaming Bush for things," one former White House adviser told me.

"Completely gratuitous," said another.

"Unfair," said a third.

The hard feelings surfaced after an April 7 interview on CNN in which Biden recounted a visit with George W. Bush. "I remember President Bush saying to me one time in the Oval Office…he said, 'Well, Joe, I'm a leader.'" Biden recalled. "And I said, 'Mr. President, turn around and look behind you. No one's following.'"

A few days later, Rove accused Biden of lying. "It didn't happen," Rove said on Fox News. "He's making these things up out of whole cloth…It is a habit he ought to drop….You should not exaggerate and lie like this when you are the vice president of the United States."

Rove said he had checked with fellow Bushies like former chief of staff Andrew Card and former congressional liaison Candida Wolff, who did not remember anything like Biden's story. What was left unsaid was that while former top White House officials denied it, there was little doubt that the former top White House official, George W. Bush, denied it, too. Rove and the former president stay in touch; it would be very, very surprising for Rove to say something so definitive about Biden without checking with the best possible source for the story, Bush himself.

Bush played gentleman with Clinton and his clan of crooks, and expected the same treatment. How incredibly naive of him.

People can criticize Bush for a lot of things, but I can’t under any circumstance picture Joe Biden mustering up the nerve to say that to Bush’s face.

Why would you think Bush expected the same treatment?

That's not why he acted as a Statesman. He acted as a Statesman because he knows that's the mark of a good leader.

He can't control the fact that crud followed him.

If you rerad it closely, it appears Joe Six Plug allegedly said it to Bush’s back. Which is about par for Dims in general and Biden in particular.

LOL, that is certainly correct but it certainly is not news to anybody with an IQ over, say, 85.

Is anyone really surprised that Biden lies his a** off? The man stole material whole cloth at one time, why do people expect that north end of a southbound horse to tell the truth now?

The Great ShamWow administration isn’t worthy of mopping Bush’s floor. BO is a classless act. Period.

Oh I actually think he would. with about 6 feet of mahogany desk and 5-6 other blowhards between them.

I just would like to know why anyone would believe that the President spends his time in the Oval Office in one-on-one, off-the-record chats with a Senator from the opposing party?

Obama had better understand that Rove is sending a shot across his bow from the Bushes. And, if Obama is smart (he may not be) he does not want a fight with the Bush machine, not at all.

Maybe Biden would of felt a little better if the Bushies would of removed all the O's and B's from the key boards and put porno in the copiers. Would he of bitched about that or thought ahh the good ol days of Clinton.

Joe Biden has a documented, perhaps even sociopathic problem with the truth. He is an admitted plagiarist. Lying can't be that much of a stretch for him.

There is no conflict between zero and Bush or Rove.

This entire event is being staged to show the brilliant political strategery of choosing a certified madman for VP.

It's just one ace in case anyone is considering tasking zero out ... we'll be left with Bozo.

...”he does not want a fight with the Bush machine, not at all.”

I can only wish that the Bush machine had destroyed this marxists political career before he was elected.

They had the power and the means to do so.

“would have” or “would’ve”

Not “would of”. That is an annoying pet peeve of mine.

They had the power and the means to do so.

Yes, but they lacked the will. They still do. But, should Mr. Obama continue his incessant attacks on the Bush years, they will obtain the will. Hence, the shot across the bow.

Having McCain-Palin elected would not have been good in the eyes of the Bush machine. I know that sounds funny, but it is true.
