I received an email that O is bringing back 80,000 troops from Iraq to America for any “emergency: i.e. in case we get fed up with the usurper destroying country and driving it into bankruptcy.

I started reading through the article, and here are some pertinent points about that...

Most of all, they waited as a series of seemingly insignificant moves — from extending the pirates a rope to bringing an injured brigand onboard — improved the sharpshooters’ odds for success.

A military official speaking on condition of anonymity said the sniper team had multiple opportunities to shoot, but held off, not believing Phillips was in imminent danger.

The military thought they had a crucial breakthrough on Sunday morning. The youngest pirate, who had been injured, asked the SEALs if he could come aboard the Bainbridge to make a phone call.

[ ... ]

“If the goal was just to kill these guys there were opportunities where we could have shot them,” said a military official. “This was not the outcome we wanted. We wanted those three guys to give themselves up.”

FR has many retired Seals, I notice they are very quiet. Perhaps the speculators and armchair warriors should learn from this.....

An interesting thing that I have just recently done, has been the compiling of a list of “Presidential Crises” for the Presidents back to Eisenhower, and see how many they faced. I’ve put Obama down there, too, of course (but he’s still got time for a number more to show up in the future...).

It’s been quite informative...

A previous post of mine below...

Well, an interesting thing happened on the way to Free Republic for me, a few days ago..., it just started with a simple post and two little items on it... I never intended for the following list to come about... LOL...

Here’s where it all started, and then some FReepers started giving me some more events.. :-)

THEN... it turned into this...

Oh..., and by the way, as I’ve been compiling that list of Presidential crises, I decided to watch Missiles of October again. That’s a “real crisis” for sure and not this little event by Obama. I hope no one thinks that this is a “test” for Obama in any way. It’s really not too much of anything.

But, watching The Missiles of October, you get a real sense of the “goings-on” in the Presidential office and what happens during a crisis. It was also interesting in dealing with the military in a crisis such as this, too (not that I think anything like that happened with Obama, though...).

Obama was briefed on the crisis at least 18 times.

If I was president I would have not needed a briefing. I would have told the DoD to take care of it any way they thought best and then tell them to get on it.

This is cool and from the LA Times no less! To hear the left wing scum vermin tell it Obama was Churchillian in his resolve to take out the pirates.

If you want to take out the pirates killing several lackeys won't do it. They will have to hit the bases hard and that will be only a deterrent. You can't eradicate a low tech activity like piracy Somali style. You can make it a scarier thing to try. Let's see if Obama does that.

Hardly shocking. You know that if you look up liberal in a thesaurus one of the words you’ll find is coward.

GWB would have given the order to take a shot right away.

Even the most liberal police officers know that in any hostage situation you take any open shot you can.

Lyndon Johnson personally okaying bombing targets micromanaging vietnam. geez, you'd think the president would have better things to do. Get rid of the regulations preventing ships from carrying heavy duty arms themselves and you won't have any piracy.

"Get me a rewrite! This is not good enough!" said the voice coming out of the computer. Starting over with a blank screen Harvey Dimple composed the new article in his head as he typed, which was how he got this job.

Dateline: Somalia. Headline: Heroic President leads victorious military campaign.

Body- Somali pirates likely dispatched by a local warlord captured the pirate of a merchant vessel and demanded a ransom for his release. The valiant military forces led by Hero President Obama rushed into action and secured the freedom of the ship captain by sending 3 pirates to the seafloor and capturing one alive with his bare hands.

There Harvey told himself. The 4 days of the worlds most powerful military being in a standoff with an unpowered rowboat were to no longer be a part of history. The White House Office of Truth and Information would send this out to the official media and it would be followed without question.

Soon everyone in the kingdom would forget what they saw as it happened live. They would forget the waiting and the yellow ribbons and the vigils as if they had never happened. They would no longer remember the President waving off questions about the seizure of the civilian vessel. They would no longer recall the Secretary of State having a bout of laughter when she was asked for a comment. No. From now on the President is the hero of the moment and he should be given single-handed credit for saving the ship captain from his captors.

I know that my preoccupation with “EEEVILL Guns” has made me wonder if the snipers used good old 7.62 or .223 to dispatch the community organizers in that boat. I would have opted for the bigger round for wind bucking capabilities..

I’ll bet that Hussein was furious when he heard that his Muslim comrades were shot, before his advisors convinced him to try to take credit for it.

Nice turn of a phrase!

After the White House is ‘reaching out’ to the ‘Muslim word’ thus they don’t wish to offend them. (arch-appeasement is more like it)
