That's incorrect. Now, if he shacks up with another or gets married outside the RCC or w/o an annulment, then he should not receive the eucharist.
False.
Hey there, sugar tits!
I think Mrs. Gibson gave this marriage her all. Mel has admitted to being unfaithful in the past. He has only himself to blame for this.
“Mrs. Gibson, I’m sorry, but ‘getting too old for this s**t’ is not a valid ground for divorce in California.”
“We were just talking about Till death do us part yesterday”
I visited The Villages in Fla in March. The ratio of females to males is 10 to one. I bet if my wife passed, I could get a date at her wake.
Mourning periods vary. I bet some couples married 40 years lost some ummm relationship steam.
TMZ.com alleges that “there is no prenuptial agreement” based on source reporting. In 2006, Gibson’s fortune was estimated at $900 million. Under California law, community property — which includes earnings — is divided 50/50.
You are correct: it is not a sin to separate and live celibate. He would only be barred from the Eucharist if he were to start a relationship with some other woman besides his wife.
Too much Passion, not enough Max.
With seven kids it’s going to be hard to make the case for annulment.
The Church doesn't recognize civil divorces regarding sacramental Catholic marriages, so Mel would be free to take Communion, unless he remarries.
May depend on the parish. Maybe the indulgences bought with the tithe. Maybe the mob boss you know, I just can't tell anymore.
I shouldn't be so harsh, but I know she put up with crap for decades. His drinking and womanizing are legend and I can't feel sorry for him. He has had every advantage and still screwed it up. The church usually does whatever is necessary to keep everybody happy.
Damn shame but I think they’ll both get through it ok.
yes--he probably had such a wonderful marriage that being alone was not something he wanted... my husband's uncle lost his wife after 63 years of marriage... less than two years later, he was married again! he's in his eighties... and so is his new wife... we were shocked at the news, but everybody was happy for him...
The number of children involved has NOTHING to do with annulments. I know a woman who had NINE children. She got an annulment - and from what I heard it was perfectly deserved according to the circumstances of the putative marriage’s formation.
Yes, he can take communion as long as he doesn’t remarry or commit any other sin.
I have a question for those of you who know more than me. I got married young (20) and ended up in a very abusive situation. He was arrested by the SWAT team after holding me at gunpoint, etc. I was not married in the church but married civily. Was divorced after 3 years of marriage. My Dh and I are both Catholic, both with early marriages that ended up badly. He was abandoned after 6 months, she just wanted out of the house and had strict parents. Dh’s marriage was recognized by the church. When we went to remarry in 1985 undoing it all seemed so much to even try for theat we just were married civily.I’d love to be able to take communion again but really don’t even know whre to start to try to undo all of this.
God Bless You and Yours. Ever On....
After almost 30 years and 7 kids, Gibson would have a hard time demonstrating that his marriage wasn’t valid in the eyes of the church. Blows the whole ‘lack of judgement’ requirement right out the window.
