Playing pansy politics with pirates put the Captains life at increased risk. His first escape attempt was thwarted by the thugs as Phillips remained adrift from the aid and cover of the US Navy, which sat restrained by an administration too cowardly to let slip the dogs of war. Each day the tension and humiliation of a nation grew. The emboldened pirates fired upon our men of action, who thus restrained could not yet act in kind. The terrorists defiant lack of fear inspired their fellows to target other American vessels. All while the community organizer in chief flipped through his conflict resolution handbook.
But here, at long last, the captive captain is free. He leapt clear and our faithful Navy, apparently at last free to take the safety off, rid the world of three contemptible degenerates and have the fourth in custody to question. So the bold leap into the sea frees the President of the burden to act.
In the end, Captain Phillips wasnt saved by the President, but by his own courageous plunge and the deadly professionalism of our men with guns. The President, you see, was saved by the Captain.
You dont suppose the WH wants it to be perceived as Obama saving the day to take the attention off the tea parties about to happen, do you?
sure, you jump overboard, they shoot at the fleeing captain, his life is in danger from the Mogs...The Navy took them out
About damn time, I swear I have no clue how this could have gone on so long
Me too.
Now he can get back to watching basketball ...
His teleprompter wasn’t working right and got him confused.
There were SO many ways this could have gone wrong....
And all the while, the phone that had started ringing at 3 AM, went on and on, unanswered.
“Present”, but the call finally had to go to voice mail.
Rahm Emanuel was on the verge of letting this crisis go to waste.
They dusted off the impeached one’s rules....
To take the attention off the tea parties coming this Wednesday, Obama should have been either take matters into his hands awhile ago, being active in that (so not to look as a carpetbagger now) or - like Clinton - at least bomb pirates bases now.
In this mini war on nerves - we have now seen how the “pretender” will behave.
He’s got to be removed from office.
All the warlords have noted his fear of conflict.
With him in power - 9/11 will seem only the first step.
They are now saying that Obama gave permission to use military force on both Friday and Saturday. But I’m still not convinced that the military didn’t already have standing permission in this case and that the claims of Obama giving permission is simply Obama trying to take credit for it.
It would be a nice question to ask the military to get clarity though.
And what is the fate of the US tugboat captured with twelve men on board?
When the US military rescued thousands of people on rooftops after katrina, I dont recall President Bush getting a single shred of credit for ordering it.
Now we have a much smaller incident that the president was not on the scene at.
There is no doubt to give: It was actions of Navy SEALs and the captain’s personal bravery that resolved this. O had nothing to do with it.
Capt. Phillips was tied up, in the lifeboat. One pirate was on board the Bainbridge “negotiating”.
The other three pirates presented themselves at the same time, at the rear of the lifeboat, while the lifeboat was being towed by the Bainbridge to more calm waters. The life boat is enclosed, designed for survival at sea, with a hatch at the rear of the boat for access.
The snipers, located at the fantail, of the Bainbridge, saw that one of the pirayes had a weapon trained on Capt tain Philips, who was not visible.
It was determined that the Captain’s life was in “imminent danger”. A split second decision was made, while all three ppiratyes were targets of opportunity and the snipers took out all three pirates simultaneously, and the fourth pirate was taken into custody.
The kills were made from a distance of 25-30 meters from the Bainbridge.
The kills happened before any of the three could squeeze off a shot at Capt. Phillips. The lifeboat was boarded, Capt. Phillips was untied, a life preserver put on him, and he was transferred to the Bainbriodge.
He has showered, had a med exam, fed, no problems, in good spirits, and has called home to speak with his family.
He syas “ I am just a by-line the real heroes are the Navy and MArines and SEALS who rescued him.”
They are all heroes today, including the brave Captain who traded himself for his crew’s safety.
A more clear Easter story could not be told—the first Captain who traded His life for his crew’s happened 2000 years ago on Golgotha.
Actually, it’s rather embarrassing for BO....4 days and 4 pirates..........can you imagine how pissed the navy is/was.
I wouldn’t believe this.......it’s called CYA time for this embarrassing administration. He has been tested by 4 pirates and he loses..........
Since he is Commander in Chief it is a court martial offense for any of our service people to speak against him.
They may view it as more “politically correct” to claim the pirates were taken out due to “immediate danger”.
In my opinion, the captain was in immediate danger from the start of the hijacking.
