On a side note, have you noticed how often Begich gets his mug on KTUU? Kind of like now that they and ADN got him in DC they have to legitimize him. I wonder if they offer Murkowski the same opportunities for air time?

we have to have mass cancellations of cable and satellite TV by Republicans. 10 million cancellations will get their attention. Pretty much we have a choice - our future or the boob tube & serfdom.

Now this is nice to see. Maybe ronnie Earle in Texas will get the same treatment for his shennanigans with Tom DeLay.

...he should write a book. He probably knows where every body in D.C. is buried, and my guess is that he might just have a chip on his shoulder after what he's been through.

"--I guess it needs to be pointed out again that this happened under the Bush "Justice" Dep't--- "

Some of you are close.

Before Clinton left office, he changed to political appointee status to career status.

IOW, since they were considered career employees, and they have a union, there was nothing Bush could do about it.

We need a revolution...

IMHO this falls in the same category as the prosecution of Ramos and Compeon, we have a Clinton staffed justice department out of control.

We can’t unless congress changes some rules... people need to go back and read the books on the Clinton years and what he did when he was getting ready to leave office, he left behind the equivalent of a ticking bomb and we have been at it’s mercy since.

We have been screaming about so many outrages for so long we have lost our voices!!! I hoarse from screaming!!!

Yes! I'm almost hoarse too...but I think I still have some voice left! :-)

And this little tidbit needs to be played over, and over, and over, and over, and over and over again!

IMHO this falls in the same category as the prosecution of Ramos and Compeon, we have a Clinton staffed justice department out of control.

When the articles first came out about R&C, I was skeptical of Ramos's characterization of events. The more I read, the more I thought things stunk. And the further I got into it, the further I was convinced that the prosecutors had crossed far over the line and that an act of injustice had occurred.

The same is true for the Stevens case. The more I read, the greater the stench coming from DOJ. Clearly, the prosecutors had ties to the liberals, but I still don't know if that was their motivation or if they were just overcome by a desire to "win at all costs." I also wonder why Mukasey did not do something about the situation; he actually ignored a direct demand from the court addressed to him personally. I've been reading most of the court documents I can get my hands on to deciper what I can and trying to reserve judgment on motivation. Hopefully, more information will be forthcoming.

If it turns out that these prosecutors held in contempt (the "Stevens Six") were on a witchhunt, one has to wonder about their other prosecutions. Brenda Morris oversaw the Abramoff prosecutions. Nick Marsh and Ed Sullivan were the prosecutors in the "Alaska corruption" cases involving State legislators. The latter Alaska cases relied heavily on the same witnesses used in the Stevens case, witnesses that have now been found to have given false testimony.

Hopefully, no one will be allowed to sweep this one under the rug. Judge Emmet Sullivan seems adequately ticked off to make sure that doesn't happen. Some of his quotes from yesterday:

"In nearly 25 years on the bench, I've never seen anything approaching the mishandling and misconduct that I've seen in this case."

“Again and again both during and after the trial in this case, the government was caught making false representations and not meetings its discovery obligations. And each time those false representations or unmet obligations came to light, the government claimed that it had simply made a good faith mistake, that there was no ill intent, and/or that the Court had already taken steps to address the problem and therefore, there was no need for Court action.”

“The fair administration of justice depends on the government meeting its obligations to pursue convictions fairly and in accordance with the Constitution. There was no question in this case that the government knew of its obligations - the Court issued discovery orders and talked about Brady from day one. Nevertheless, the government repeatedly failed to meet those obligations.”

Good points you are making... I had not considered the Abramhoff prosecution. I was never impressed with Mukasey, am less so now.

Brenda Morris was also involved in the Scooter Libby trial. American Thinker pulled the following from her bio on a Stanford Univ website regarding a speaking engagement in 2007:

"As deputy chief, Brenda is the highest-ranking official in the Section who is not a political appointee. She will discuss her role supervising high-profile cases, including the Jack Abramoff investigation and the Scooter Libby trial, as well as her experience working as a career prosecutor under Alberto Gonzales."
