OREM, Utah -- Kirk Jowers has an answer for whether Mitt Romney's presidential bid was lost because of Mormonism:
"I can unequivocally tell you that the answer is 'yes, no and maybe.'"
owers' comment elicited laughter at the "Mormonism in the Public Mind" conference on Friday, April 3, at Utah Valley University. He is director of the Hinckley Institute of Politics at the University of Utah and associate director of the Institute of Public and International Affairs.
According to Jowers, in October 2007 many pundits were saying Romney was on his way to winning. He had focused on the early primaries and was overcoming the deficit of name recognition between him and John McCain and Rudy Giuliani. "It looked like he might actually run the table," Jowers said.

Mitt·got·ry Mittgotry..
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Well that boy finally did good and contributed to society and humanity didnt he ???
A new word...
Well, well....
Post what you got, mouth. I never made such a broad statement, but I have referred to particular twisters of scripture on mormonism threads as being agents of Satan. Now, put up your evidence.
MGHinTN,
I actually remember you saying you WOULD vote for Mitt.

Actually, by the time my primary rolled around, Mitt was the least dangerous choice, so I voted in the primaries for him. But this is about particular mormons having a chip to play in their life saga of persecution, and Mitt is but one of their strategies. Mitt fooled me on his ‘conversion’ to pro-life. It won’t happen again.
Hell so did I when it was down to him and McCain...
Of course I would choose a massive heart attack over slowly bleeding to death in pain but prefer neither...
MHGinTN,
He was out of it by the time I got to vote.
I wasn’t voting for him anyway. Really, my
choices were nil.
I am already planning to vote AGAINST him
in 2012 since he started running already.
There has been a constant meme from mormonism for
more than 150 years of victimhood and “antis” etc.

In the first place, concerning your accusation about there being a “chip on my shoulder,” I don't give a d_mn about your anti-Mormonism. It affects me not one iota. I would just like people not to be misinformed, I would like to improve and make FR more effective, and I would like to see the conservatives quit eating each other so we can win next time.
Also, let me tell you that your stupid anti_Mormonism is quite ineffective. Catholics are fond of saying that the blood of the martyrs is the life blood of the church. In other words, attacks actually have a positive effect. Mormons have been severely attacked, and yet there are over 13 million Mormons now. It doesn't seem to hinder their growth. Honest, spiritual people are repulsed by such antics. I have heard several people say that is what got them interested in Mormonism.
There seems to be a Providence that works that way too. Mormons were driven out of Missouri. Fortunately, that meant they were not around when the Civil War started. The first year of the war about half of the battles were fought in Missouri. The place was devastated. They were then driven out of Illinois. As a result they moved to a place where they could more easily develop without interference. On their way west, the US Army asked 500 of their desperately needed men to go help in the War with Mexico. As a result of that sacrifice they were in California and participated in the discovery of gold. They took some of the first creaming from the mines back to Utah, and that helped the Mormons to survive in the wilderness. When that gold was spent bringing in needed supplies, the Mormons again became destitute. Fortunately, they were persecuted again by Pres. Buchanan sending an army out to put them in subjection. The Mormons put straw in all their houses and told the army if they stopped in Salt Lake, all the houses would go up in flames and the Mormons would move to Mexico. As a result, the army camped out of Salt Lake 20 miles or so. However, the army needed supplies for themselves to survive. That meant they had to buy their supplies from the Mormons. In other words, the Mormons had captured customers, and made enough by that to continue surviving until the railroad came through. In other words, I take it that Providence disapproves of one people persecuting another and makes things work out to even the accounts.
Now let me say something about your accusation that Mormonism is “an heretical Christianity lookalike cult.” How the he!! would you know. We have brains just as you do. We can reason just as you can. We read the Bible just as you do. And we are just as spiritually sensitive as you are. A lot of Mormons are of the opinion that your are wrong. And they feel pity for you. I accuse you of arrogance. Not everyone who says Lord Lord . . .
And as I said to you once before, we are seeing America become Marxist daily before our very eyes, and all you want to do is play cutesy with anti-Mormonism. God help us from people like you.
Romney LOST because he is a loser, a failure as politician,
and has poor judgment.
Ask the Mauck family or look what Mitt(DNCwhore) said about amateur radio.
Mr. Romney "Disses" Amateur Radio In Televised Town Meeting
Typically, you slide back and forth between mormonism and mormon. Pathetic, but example of the very thing you try to claim you do not have, a huge chip on your personal shouldert. Try reasoning clearly next time.
Eh ?????????????
I voted for Congressman Duncan Hunter on Wednesday, the first day of early voting in TN, and then he dropped out on Saturday
:(
“and yet there are over 13 million Mormons now.
You’re still using the official New LDS Math
http://www.sltrib.com/ci_2890645 - active members are more like 4 million. Not much different than Scientology.
We had zero with MeQueeg Slobbering and heaping Praise on Hussein and then Tying down Palin, it is a wonder we got any votes at all. The RINO Turd pissed off so many people in the Party that they just sat this one out.
“According to LDS-published statistics, the annual number of LDS converts declined from a high of 321,385 in 1996 to 241,239 in 2004. In the 1990s, the church’s growth rate went from 5 percent a year to 3 percent.
By comparison, the Seventh-day Adventist Church reports it has added more than 900,000 adult converts each year since 2000 (an average growth of about 5 percent), bringing the total membershipto 14.3 million. The Assemblies of God now claims more than 50 million members worldwide, adding 10,000 new members every day.
“Russia provides a dramatic example of different religious growth rates. After more than 15 years of proselyting there, LDS membership has risen to 17,000. During the same period, Jehovah’s Witnesses membership has increased to more than 140,000, with some 300,000 individuals attending conferences.”
This is the kind of thing you were posting in the primary:
"Mormons did not demand separate water fountains, separate schools, separate rest rooms in Utah. It was the South that did that. They were racists. Mormons did not lynch blacks. It was the South that did that. They were the racists. Mormons did not promote slavery. If you want to start pointing the finger of racism, lets compare the Mormons to the South and particularly the Baptists. Should we not vote for McCain and Huckabee because they are Baptists, with a racist tradition?
I find you continually reding things superficially and drawing the opposit conclusion from what they were meant.
Are you a teen ager?
Is Resty using your name now? ... Or is it that you just need to calm down and spell your words accurately? When I get excited, sometimes my fingers leave out a letter or three. Are you getting excited bb?
Yes I do, for example you.

broncobilly to SpringheelJack
racist church up until 1978 nobody ever made that much of it in the primary, but it would have become a massive issue in the general.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They didnt make much of it because it isnt true. It is McCain and Huckabee who are members of a church that has been racist until very recently.
YES!!
If he was a good a MORMON as he SHOULD have been (after ALL the positions held in church management) he should NEVER have been so weak on abortion!
No one wants a 'president' that claims to 'beliewe' and then shows so little evidence of it.
Yet, you can't see the distinction between anti-Mormonism and anti-Mormon. Doesn't speak highly of your reasoning abilities.
I carry the same distinction with Muslims and Islam. I hate Islam as a system of evil. I don't hate the individual Muslims (except certain violent extremists) who are the victims of the evil system. I'd be curious to hear how the Mormons would differ on this view of Muslims and Islam.
