Obama issues warning as North Korea readies rocket

By PAULINE JELINEK, Associated Press Writer Fri Apr 3, 12:56 am ET

WASHINGTON – As North Korea fueled a multistage rocket Thursday for its threatened satellite launch, President Barack Obama promised a "stern" response and Japan vowed to press for an emergency session of the U.N. Security Council. Senior U.S. defense officials said that trailers and vehicles carrying rocket propellant were in place at North Korea's coastal launch site and that fueling had begun.

A U.S. counter-proliferation official said the fueling process could take "up to a few days." But a senior U.S. intelligence official told The Associated Press that Pyongyang was on track for a projected Saturday launch

The American officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence issues.

At the G-20 summit in London, Obama and South Korean President Lee Myung-bak issued a statement agreeing on "a stern, united response from the international community if North Korea launches a long-range rocket."

State Department spokesman Robert Wood would not address the U.S. intelligence reports. But he repeated earlier warnings for the North Koreans not to take any "provocative" actions.

Japan's ambassador to the U.N. said his nation will request an emergency session of the Security Council if North Korea proceeds with the launch. Yukio Takasu said he raised the possibility during closed-door council talks Thursday.

A side note: Residents in Jeonju city, not far from Kunsan airbase of USAF, heard a particulary loud and sustained boom (lasted for 2 sec: suspected to be a sonic boom) over its sky a couple of days ago.

Speculation abound over its source on Internet. Still U.S. and S. Korean military are basically tight-lipped over this, except saying that there were no flight there at the time.

Has something special landed on Kunsan base? If it(or they) did, it must have something to do with the current N. Korean missile launch. Is there a contingency plan for surgical strike? Or is this an added recon asset?

Obama issues warning as North Korea readies rocket

I'll know Obama's serious if he promises them tax cuts. North Korea better start being careful then.

President Barack Obama promised a "stern" response

Obama bin Hidin will bow to the Keeper of the Holy Places, thereby displaying the former's "stern".

In other news, a sonic boom is the sound of freedom. Raptors warming up in the bull pen.

I would hope our side would respond to Chia with the proper "Spirit".

What does “stern response” mean... Another angry letter, but this time signed by the whole group?

HAH! Just thought of something: Kim Jong-Il just might be the only foreign head of state to refuse to join the NWO! (Not that it will really gain him any REAL “fans” mind you!) ROFL... I only hope not too many innocents are hurt when he is brought to reckoning with the world (finally).

(Conservative) Lee Hoi Chang is weighing in on this whole mess. (Independent.co.kr). It seems he is making sense:

Some local authorities (cities/towns) and prefectures here in Japan are going on 24 alert; vacations/weekends being cancelled, lots of stuff under the surface going on thats for sure. I am sure Cobra Ball and Rivet Joint are up and in the action. Now we have the LIBERALS (in the Japanese and US press) planting media stories that “the Japanese are overreacting” quoting selective liberal policy wonks. I expected this to emerge. The “overreacting” line is straight out of the bowels of the US State Department.

Stay safe.

Prayers for you, and all in Japan being said. Even if some think it’s “over-reacting”. They say the same dang thing about Iran’s threats to Israel. Not surprising.

Babelspeak: "Obama, the government established the Korean Peninsula is still unable to develop strategies and to North Korea’s nuclear strategyIs ...."

Probably meant to say, "The new Obama Government is still unable to develop a strategy with respect to the Korean Peninsula and addressing North Korea's nuclear strategy." (Which is an accurate assessment. Those amateurs in D.C now on watch don't know WHAT the f they are doing.

(Former Presidential candidate and conservative) Mr. Chang goes on to say (which is true), "all along the US has said with their mouth that "we will not allow a Nuclear North Korea", and yet in reality this is what has come to pass and they have done nothing to stop it."

Thanks... I appreciate you filling in some of the blanks on that! :) Babelfish is quick, but it is VERY far from perfect! At least we can usually get the gist of things from it...

Thanks again. :)
