New Mormon anti-freeper site and campaign to bankrupt FR
rumor mill | March 29, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 03/29/2009 2:35:03 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

I understand there is a new anti-freeper site started by disgruntled former and present Mormon FReepers and it is their intention of bankrupting FR during the coming Freepathon by withholding their donations and disrupting our activities. Well, all I can say is, if they feel that badly against FR, by all means they should withhold their donations and drop out of FR. But it they attempt to disrupt our operations I will guarantee they will no longer be members of FR. If that is their wish, so be it.

I'm not going to try to defend FR from their claims of religious persecution, but I will say that Mormons have and always have had free reign to post their threads on FR just as all other religious groups have enjoyed. Free Republic defends the right to freedom of religion and has always welcomed religious discussion and always will. And Mormons have always been welcome here. I have absolutely nothing against Mormons.

If you are one who has left or is leaving, I wish you well, but disruption of FR is not welcome and will not be tolerated.

And this is not the first time such activity has been attempted by groups of disgruntled former FReepers. Good luck with that. There is always some group that feels FR should be bent to their way of thinking and end up saying my way or the highway. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not changing so I guess it's the highway. Is it Feb 8 yet?

God bless.

here are the quick facts: McDonald’s served its coffee 20 degrees hotter than anyone else in the business to discourage elderly customers from having a second cup. They had received over 700 complaints of people burned by their coffee and refused to lower the temperature. At trial, their risk manager acknowledged awareness of the number of burns and that McDonalds would not lower the temperature of their coffee. Had they followed the industry standard, it would have taken 30-40 seconds for the coffee to cause third degree burns. As it was, the coffee caused third degree burns in 2-3 seconds. The plaintiff in the case had third degree burns over her genitals. Before suing, the plaintiff sought compensation for her medical bills (and none for pain and suffering). It was in light of all of the above facts that the jury decided to award punitive damages equal to McDonald’s national profits from coffee sales for the three days the plaintiff was hospitalized. Contrary to what people believe, there was a logical rationale for the award. Even so, the trial court judge reduced the verdict immediately after the trial.

McDonald’s knew that and still didn’t stop brewing it that hot until they lost this case.

Right.

They are just plain mean and wanted to burn people.
So many corporate entities adopt similar policies.
The business model for maliciously injuring customers
is a long standing and time-tested winner every time.

I’m not an idiot.

Gotcha.

It has always seemed a stupid way to cause disruption, when we should be looking at what we have in common and working together.

By most means, Christians & LDS can and should continue to work together on Prop 8 like campaigns, pro-life work, and other cultural & political venues. We need to work together without conveying that this is our highest priority.

One day this world's going to pass away -- and even before it does -- most if not all of us FREEPERS will.

We all face ultimate accountability before a Pure Judge. We'll either claim His Son's shed blood as the rite of passage to remain in His presence, or we'll hold on to a no-go substitute. That is why we need to work together at most costs -- but not all costs. There's something coming that transcends this world and its conflicts.

Although I surprised that he posted my tagline on his site next to my name.

Um, I think you meant to post to someone else.

Cuz this man would never rail against freedom of speech.

Having said that. This is a private forum. If its managers want to change the organization of public posts they are well within their rights to do so.

More knee-jerking and projecting.

“Heaven” forbid I should suggest that we act to spare everyone the distraction of the religions-at-war so that we might stay focused on our common enemy.

An enemy that threatens each religion in a way and with such power that all of you should be best pals at the moment.

There coming for YOU, folks.

If you think the left will spare Christianity, Mormonism, or ANY other religion you are sorely, woefully ignorant and/or naive.

And your tax-exempt status is the LEAST of your worries under these people.

Not much use in reading beyond that. People that sell coffee do not discourage people from buying it. McDonalds brewed it HOT because people wanted it hot (including ME), and they could make more coffee with fewer grounds.

I am really annoyed by this fram and spam group because of their misguided selfish interest they have really set back out goodwill here on FR.

Excellent question.

Well, the crackpot is watching this thread by all accounts. You just have to say something that can be construed as *anti-Mormon* and you should be in cold.

In case it hasn’t already been noted, he’s hawking a book on his blog. He’s just a publicicty hound trying to drum up business. Also, if pointing out the weaknesses and problems with the LDS church makes somebody an “anti-Mormon”, then by his own definition he’s an “anti-Christ” since a Mormon is someone who believes all other churches are in error, false, etc.
