I understand there is a new anti-freeper site started by disgruntled former and present Mormon FReepers and it is their intention of bankrupting FR during the coming Freepathon by withholding their donations and disrupting our activities. Well, all I can say is, if they feel that badly against FR, by all means they should withhold their donations and drop out of FR. But it they attempt to disrupt our operations I will guarantee they will no longer be members of FR. If that is their wish, so be it.
I'm not going to try to defend FR from their claims of religious persecution, but I will say that Mormons have and always have had free reign to post their threads on FR just as all other religious groups have enjoyed. Free Republic defends the right to freedom of religion and has always welcomed religious discussion and always will. And Mormons have always been welcome here. I have absolutely nothing against Mormons.
If you are one who has left or is leaving, I wish you well, but disruption of FR is not welcome and will not be tolerated.
And this is not the first time such activity has been attempted by groups of disgruntled former FReepers. Good luck with that. There is always some group that feels FR should be bent to their way of thinking and end up saying my way or the highway. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not changing so I guess it's the highway. Is it Feb 8 yet?
God bless.

I disagree, and I hope you don't mind that I have pinged Jim.
If we cannot be aware of and respond to differing viewpoints, we might as well be elsewhere, in a place where no real discourse is allowed.
I am here because this is indeed a Free Republic.
They didn't mention me.
I feel left out.
Maybe I should try harder next time.
But as you can see there will always be some defending the trial lawyer industry.("I'm not for frivolous lawsuits, but in this case...") Yeah, the elderly woman was drinking the coffee, as hot as the majority of Mickey D's customers demanded it, while the car was moving. Personal responsibility? Whatta concept!
It’s called freedom of speech, Boucheau, and we’re entitled to it until Obama pulls the plug ...gurgle...gurgle... gurgle...
Greg West, the proprietor of the website, had just posted a blog entry about this very thread. Among other things, he wrote,
I'm not sure what's going on behind the scenes. All I'm doing is keeping a running list of the threads started by anti-Mormons and publishing them on the FRAM Report. If Latter-day Saints see that the forum's rules are slanted to favor anti-Mormonism, that one of their religion moderators is one of the anti-Mormons, and they decide to leave FR or withhold financial support, that's up to them.I do not wish to inflate his membership numbers, so I will post my reply here:
As a defender of Mormonism and the LDS Church, I cannot agree with Mr. West's characterization of Free Republic. I do not believe that Free Republic's rules are slanted as Mr. West alleges. Nor have I seen anything to suggest that any of the FR religion monitors is an "anti-Mormon."No doubt some of the posters to Free Republic can fairly be considered "anti-Mormon." So what? Whenever they post something erroneous about the LDS Church, it gives us the opportunity to correct the record. Unlike some truly anti-Mormon sites on the Internet, Free Republic does not prevent us from telling our side of the story.
I do hope that Mr. West does not intend to lead a boycott of Free Republic. The press release from the Church on 9 March 2009 states clearly, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as an institution does not call for boycotts."
Finally, I would let Mr. West and like-minded persons in on a little secret: Anti-Mormons are good for us. They keep us on our toes. Moreover, they generate interest in the Church, giving us the opportunity to reach people who might otherwise ignore us.
I worry much less about what the enemies of the LDS Church may do or say than the misbehaviors of the members themselves. My advice to Mr. West would be to discard his enemies list and find something productive to do.
I can understand that.
[After reading that blog it appears this is a Christans vs Mormons fight. That brings up the point the this use to be just a political site. The religious seem to have started taking over.]
Unfortunately, you can’t separate religion from politics. Here in Las Vegas, we have corrupt Mormon Harry Reid, corrupt Mormon convert Dario Herrera (now in jail), corrupt Mormon airport director Randy Walker. Trust me, I know a lot about what goes on here and it isn’t pretty. So, that is one reason I end up being tagged as a hater, though I’ve gone through quite a lot that would make you wonder.
That woman was badly burned from that coffee and suffered a lot of pain.”
I’m sorry she got badly burned, but she did it to herself.
I had three motorcycle wrecks last year.Going too fast.
The same logic says Honda owes me money because the bike went too fast.
You don’t know that you don’t like Romney so it must be those who supported Romney I have read this serveral times it is not the FR LDS that is doing this and You should be careful we have enough ill will without stirring the pot!
Someone is watching this site I just read the list of names he has for the Anti’s some I have hardly encountered with or never heard of....
Yes, because she didn't quite grasp the fact that coffee is hot and can burn you if you spill it on yourself.
I know that is a lot to take in at one time, but still...
It's SARCASM!!!!
It's also knowing when to take someone seriously and when not to. The guy who set up this site is a crackpot and has an axe to grind, and WE get it.
You need to as well, unless you know something that we don't.
Thank you. I knew she had been horribly burned and wow, in the worst possible area. Poor lady.
After all, look at WBC, no one thinks they represent Christians, save perhaps the old tired media.
I will make it a point to shun Mormon posters with a handle of "Roman". It reminds me too much of Harry Dean Stanton's character on "Big Love".
I don't get too wrapped up in the theological aspects of the show. It's got a great cast and "unique" storylines.
Thanks for the notice. A shame that some fringe Mormon bloggers have adopted the rhetoric of the loony left to defend themselves. Pity.
did you bother to even READ the facts of that case? There have been MANY who spilled the coffee, which was way too hot to begin with, and McDonald’s KNEW it was too hot.
My only response? Awwwwwwwwwwwww! Maybe if Freepers would refrain from posting the entire published works of Mormonism there would be fewer “anti” thread entries.
yep, go back to post 70 and hit the link, PMarlowe is in there
