I understand there is a new anti-freeper site started by disgruntled former and present Mormon FReepers and it is their intention of bankrupting FR during the coming Freepathon by withholding their donations and disrupting our activities. Well, all I can say is, if they feel that badly against FR, by all means they should withhold their donations and drop out of FR. But it they attempt to disrupt our operations I will guarantee they will no longer be members of FR. If that is their wish, so be it.
I'm not going to try to defend FR from their claims of religious persecution, but I will say that Mormons have and always have had free reign to post their threads on FR just as all other religious groups have enjoyed. Free Republic defends the right to freedom of religion and has always welcomed religious discussion and always will. And Mormons have always been welcome here. I have absolutely nothing against Mormons.
If you are one who has left or is leaving, I wish you well, but disruption of FR is not welcome and will not be tolerated.
And this is not the first time such activity has been attempted by groups of disgruntled former FReepers. Good luck with that. There is always some group that feels FR should be bent to their way of thinking and end up saying my way or the highway. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not changing so I guess it's the highway. Is it Feb 8 yet?

I used to work at a McDonalds and was still in touch with co-workers after we quit. As one of them pointed out, most of the people who bought McD’s coffee did so BECAUSE it was so hot.
They knew it and they liked it that way; that’s why they bought it.
That said, putting a hot cup of coffee between your legs to hold it was not the brightest idea going, even if the coffee wasn’t so hot. She would have gotten burned by any coffee hot enough to drink until it was too cool to be palatable. She spilled it on herself. IMO, she should not have gotten a settlement.

I had been a member there since around 2004 on this conservative political forum, but I asked the moderators there to delete my account in protest after someone posted some of the temple stuff up there. The Christian "Taliban" that dominates the right wing of the Republican party was having hissy-fits because they thought Mitt Romney was going to get nominated. The place is still a hotbed for anti-Mormons and rarely does anything appear there about the Church that doesn't send them into paroxysms.

Well, I rejoined the FR forums again and I posted two replies under topics that had to do with the "Big Love" episode and another about a Sacramento LDS Genealogy library that's helping African-Americans find their roots. I've reset the privacy settings for our site here to make it fully public for the time being. That will permit people to follow links here and read the linked articles without having to join. I prefer to have people join the site and the privacy settings are normally set to have them see the front main page, but not the rest. I'll probably set it back in a week or so, but we'll see how it goes.
Anyways, I figured I'd tell you guys because we will probably get a big influx of antis for a brief period. It might get lively around here because I just kicked a hornet's nest.

The "antis" of FR engage in open debate by providing information directly from LDS official websites, news sources and personal experience with the mormon church.
There is no need for the "antis" to sneak around and set up websites to try and disrupt FreeRepublic.
We debate on "open" threads and have no need to hide behind closed "devotional" or "caucus" threads.
This is not the first time that those who post rebuttal to mormon proselytizing on FR have been attacked with threats of donations to FR being withheld.
I suggest, restornu, that before you make your claim that "practicing LDS wouldn't behave in this manner" that you do a survey of your fellow FReeper mormons.

The reason why you and your web site are being attacked is because this web site stands for the TRUTH. Some people like the person in question do not want the truth, because THEY HAVE AN AGENDA (yes I am yelling). For the individual in question, their agenda is to proclaim the message that all other Christian churches and denominations are totally apostate and the so-called "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" is the only true church on earth proclaiming the only "true gospel" that was supposedly exclusively given to Joseph Smith. According to the Mormon church, all other gospels, churches and denominations are false and in order to be saved, one must become a Mormon. That is what Mormons believe and teach and that is exactly where this individual is coming from. He and a number of other Mormons are primarily using Free Republic as a soap box for proselytizing. Free Republic does NOT push this agenda and many theologically astute individuals on FR have merely proclaimed the truth regarding Mormon doctrine with the result that this individual and a number of other disgruntled Mormons have taken offense and want to shut you and Free Republic up.
Jim Rob, multitudes of conservatives are indebted to you and your vision regarding FR. We will continue to stand by and with you in our support. Do not be discouraged, this individual and group have made you a target and attacked FR precisely because of your unwavering pursuit of the truth and men do not want the truth when it interferes with their agendas. Hang tough, keep up the good fight, thank you for Free Republic and never forget this:

Well, I’m glad she DID get a settlement. It will never pay for the pain she suffered. Many people do the same thing with their coffee. It’s thoughtless, but until something like this happens to someone else, you don’t think of it as being a big deal.
