New Mormon anti-freeper site and campaign to bankrupt FR
rumor mill | March 29, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 03/29/2009 2:35:03 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

I understand there is a new anti-freeper site started by disgruntled former and present Mormon FReepers and it is their intention of bankrupting FR during the coming Freepathon by withholding their donations and disrupting our activities. Well, all I can say is, if they feel that badly against FR, by all means they should withhold their donations and drop out of FR. But it they attempt to disrupt our operations I will guarantee they will no longer be members of FR. If that is their wish, so be it.

I'm not going to try to defend FR from their claims of religious persecution, but I will say that Mormons have and always have had free reign to post their threads on FR just as all other religious groups have enjoyed. Free Republic defends the right to freedom of religion and has always welcomed religious discussion and always will. And Mormons have always been welcome here. I have absolutely nothing against Mormons.

If you are one who has left or is leaving, I wish you well, but disruption of FR is not welcome and will not be tolerated.

And this is not the first time such activity has been attempted by groups of disgruntled former FReepers. Good luck with that. There is always some group that feels FR should be bent to their way of thinking and end up saying my way or the highway. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not changing so I guess it's the highway. Is it Feb 8 yet?

God bless.

I love Zion NP and all of Southern Utah. I actually liked the most of the Mormons I talked to in Washington County but I also know they’re not always sincere.

I think you mean “goad” not goat. (Sometimes it is a good idea to use a dictionary before hitting the send button)

I think they are a cult.
But I also think the ones I've known have been VERY NICE people.
The issue is disappointing to me about what Jim wrote here.

Washington County is almost the same as Provo in that regard.
We are on the east side of Zion where it’s very different.

You may not have called for Sevenbak’s banning or hit the abuse button, but someone did. Because of that, we've lost yet another in a long line of arch conservatives here at FR. For me, that's beyond sad.

Sevenbak, as well as many more before him, shared most if not all the same views & passions towards conservatism. The difference? A different religious belief. For that, he was baited into an area he probably never wanted to go. His goal was simply to defend his religion & his God.

We as conservatives often wonder why we're losing the war of ideas, & we are losing that war. Part of the reason we're losing is due to spineless &/or corrupt political leaders. But another significant reason is that there is a faction of our movement that seems hell bent on eating their own. The scenario that just played out w/ Sevenbak is a glaring example of just that. We've lost yet another key player in the movement here at FR.

Can you imagine an independent that would come to this site, looking to see what conservatism is all about, just to find what a minority is able to do w/ other conservatives? The left paints conservatives as religious fanatics, & it resonates w/ many. Is there any wonder why considering what is found here? Instead of working on issues together to move the movement along, some are allowed to make this a site of holy wars. United we conquer, divided we fall, & will continue falling.

LDS rarely if ever start threads going after another religion. We simply defend our faith as do other religions (namely the Catholics). For that we are often vilified, & on a conservative site! I know some of you anti’s feel you're doing a good work for conservatism, doing the Lord's work. Do you really realize how many you're actually driving away? Do you realize how much the work is retarded by the inability to work for the common good, rather than just proving you're “right” on religious matters?

I don't think it's a coincidence that the last freepathon took about 2 months to complete. The LDS are a rather small contingent here & even w/ the conspiracy theory that's been bounded about here, w/ no validity I might add, we wouldn't add up to the lack of numbers we see.

I talk to others that were former freepers that have left b/c they feel the site has lost it's edge. They don't like the needless wars on matters that have nothing to do w/ conservatism. They hate coming here to see the carnage on a daily basis among those who should be fighting arm in arm. They don't have to visit the religious threads, but they do, just to see what's happening on that side. BTW, the vast majority of these formers I talk about are non LDS, some are even Evangelicals who are quite embarrassed by their brethren here.

As has become quite customary here, I'm sure I will be trashed now by the very ones of whom I write. It doesn't bother me. I deal w/ those that are far more skilled at their craft in the bus. world on a daily basis, thus have developed a tough skin. But ask yourself this, are you moving the conservative cause along by your actions, or just satisfying your narcissistic tendencies.

For some here, it's not about a search for the truth, or even sharing the truth they have found, rather just about the win. You may at times feel you've won a personal battle, but you may be costing us the conservative war. An exchange of ideas here, even though competing, & on religion at times when appropriate, is not bad. But when it gets personal, when you trash another b/c of their religious beliefs, when you start using the liberal playbook, then we weaken our efforts as conservatives.

That has been tolerated here for some time now. At what cost? To some, the FR has lost some of it's original identity. The repercussions are perhaps the price that has been paid. Just food for thought. Those that want a fight in the sandbox, not today, at least not for me. My best to my FRiends here & enemy alike.

I understand your position, I truly do.

But we are defending the truth, and it is because we stand for something.

You are on Freerepublic because you believe that the ways of Conservatism are correct and come here to defend such. You stand for conservative ideals.

And that is simply just politics.

Should not the business of God himself demand the same effort and attention, indeed should it not receive more, for politics are merely the constructs of man, they are ethereal.

God was here before there were Democrats and Republicans, before there was a United States, and will be there long after we are dust and our words just bits of data in some achieve.

I enjoy standing for political ideas, but I must also stand for that which is much higher, much more important in it's impact upon our world and that of my Children.

The powers of darkness are all around us, many guiding the very enemies were fight on the political side of FR. Fire fighters tell you to aim for the base of the flame when battling a blaze. The march of the Evil One is the very base of the culture of death and indifference that is the embodiment of the political left. Fighting it is fighting for God. They are inseparable.

Like I said I understand, but there are many of us who do not approach this lightly and are willing to take up arms as soldiers of the living true God. We know we are fighting a battle much greater than politics, and yet in the end will bring victory there as well.

If that is nutz, so is arguing for anti abortion platforms, Terry Shivo's life or the right to protect marriage. Indeed fighting for any political cause is just as crazy by that standard.

I didn’t mention dual IDs...I was pointing out that “rasaldasal” sounded just like something you would post that was unique to you. And, yes, I’ve heard all about your dislecksia.

sometimes the dyslexic can not hear the different difference

I didn't know dyslexia affected the hearing. That's too bad, resty. It must be very difficult for you, what with the problems you've had with your eyesight, dyslexia, AND hearing.

A couple old ladies in a burger joint mocked and laughed me when I told them I was a Baptist. I think those were the only Mormons I didn’t particularly like. One of them said, “I’m Mrs. Sullivan, and she’s also Mrs. Sullivan.” I think I know what that means.

What do you mean “it’s very different”? Talk about different, we drove around Colorado City.

few loose cannon of a decidedly nasty bent

You certainly would qualify as someone who knows what a "nasty bent" is, as anyone who looks at your posting history will see.

And now I’m getting off this thread too because it is bringing that bad taste back. Think I’ll go gargle.

Don't let the door hit ya.

I do not take my faith lightly, nor to I take Terri Shivo’s death lightly. I take my Constitution seriously and my witness for God seriously. Having said that, I reiterate, this is nutz. It goes against everything those of us bled and died and went broke for stand for.

No where in the Old Testament, Gospels, or the Constitution did it say to punch someone in the nose for his/her beliefs and no where did Jesus ever say to do anything more than preach the gospel and if it is not received — MOVE ON and shake the dust from your shoes.

This thread diminishes the Christian Faith and the Republican Party. If you want to evangelize the world — become an example someone would want to imitate — Preach the gospel every day — and, if necessary, use words.

Our Constitution dictates there is NO RELIGIOUS TEST. Therefore, there is NO RELIGIOUS TEST for service to uphold and defend it.

This thread is nutz.

It is so sad but those antis who want us gone are really having a field day but the day will come all well be resolved.

It reminds me of King Herod

Acts 12: 1,

1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.

2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

Tyranny

Mormonism isn’t Christian. It is a defilement of Christianity...they believe in multiple gods, that they are bothers and sisters of Christ and that there will be eternal polygamy and increase.

At least Muslims can ony kill our bodies, they do NOT defile the very idea of Christianity because they make it ablsolutely clear that they are OTHER - that they are NOT Christian.

We MUST defend Christ. Is there a more noble cause?
