Warning: 'Antichrist' movie tricking Christians
wnd ^ | 3/25/09 | Joe Kovacs

An online movie documenting the close ties between ancient pagan religions and today's Christianity is "antichrist" in nature, destroying the faith of believers by combining some astonishing truth with plenty of error.

That's the claim of a Christian historian and author who, ironically, has himself been educating the public about the impact heathen sun worship has had on traditional Christianity.

Richard Rives, author of "Time is the Ally of Deceit" and "Too Long in the Sun," is sounding the alarm about "Zeitgeist," a 2007 documentary written and narrated by Peter Joseph, a freelance film editor, composer and producer in New York City.

Literally meaning "spirit of the time," "Zeitgeist" was released on DVD and the Internet, and Joseph claims it has been viewed more than 50 million times on Google Video, and more than 100 million times when other formats and public screenings are taken into account.

Statistics show that film makers DO NOT make money
on violent and sexually deviant movies. They make
their money on family entertainment.

Proof (enough for me) there is an agenda to morally
dumb down the western culture.

I googled Perseus and found more than one account of his "conception". Some say Zues came down and had sex with Danae and Perseus was conceived. Some said that Zues came to her as a "shower of gold" and Perseus was conceived.

It's a bit difficult to take the "shower of gold" claim seriously as an original story since other children of Zeus were born through intercourse. Ancient Greek and Roman mythology has been changed in modern "retellings" to support the idea that virgin births and physical resurrections are present in religions other than Christianity. So. . .unless someone can show the original story had the "shower of gold" in it, and that the other stories of his intercourse to conceive children were false, I just don't buy it.

There's few societies where a virgin birth, miraculous birth, or impregnation by a deity is absent.

There's a big difference between a virgin birth and the story of a 'god' having sex with a woman. Interesting how you lump them together after making the claim that virgin births were all over the place in mythology.

When I googled images of Danae, all the ancient Greek vase paintings I found were of a shower of gold pouring onto her belly. This representation allows for a definite identification of the characters.

You might have other vase paintings of a man and a woman, or Zeus and a woman, and not be able to identify Danae, unless the bronze chamber was indicated. On the other hand the vase itself can symbolize a chamber with a hole in the ceiling.

I still say it was totally out of character for Zeus to enjoy a woman in such a fashion. Swan, sure, bull, yeah; that’s the kind of god he was, but not a formless emission.

Yeah, the godless are always trotting out poorly researched, disproven-a-century-ago nonsense, since that's all they have. For anyone interested, drop by here and here - explore around, scads of information on all kinds of subjects, including the "Christ-myth/pagan copycat" nonsense.

The simple fact is, anyone who watches a film and decides to walk away from his/her religion based on that was going to leave it anyhow. This is the same hysteria like we saw prior to the release of the DaVinci Code (which was fiction), Christians could watch the film and not suddenly leave the Faith. Few, if any did.

You say this as if it were true. Yet, it is not.

In any case, I find it humorous that you feel the need to display your personal stats on your FR homepage as you pose in front of a modern “temple”.

Sounds like you’ve found your own god :-)

You cannot destroy the faith of a believer. Either you follow Christ or you do not. Now you could destroy the ability of a non-believer to believe or at least make it harder for them to accept the truth. However, Christ promises that he will never leave nor forsake the believer. Also Paul told the Philippians;

being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; (Philippians 1:6)

In fact, I’ve heard of a few Catholics return to their faith because the movie (or book) caused them to think about spiritual matters again.

Well, I guess I prefer that all non-believers adopt the "Jesus was a myth" approach over the "Redefining Jesus and Christianity" approach that is corrupting so many churches.

I prefer to have Satan and his minions clearly identified, rather than amongst true believers as fifth columnists.

I was teasing you GunRunner :). With the slightly tilted upward camera shot showing your robust physique it just popped into my mind! You’d make a great model for a Greek or Roman god!

As for myself: Once you absorb the unique teaching of Jesus as compared to the other Pagan religions of his day, the virgin birth comparisons are meaningless.

I am not aware of any deity in Pagan religions that showed the sort of love that Jesus did for his enemies. That begged God the Father to forgive those who tortured and killed Him.

No other religion has transformed the world in such a positive way. All that is good in this world was due to the teachings of Jesus that men have taken to heart. The counter-movement via Islam and governmental secularists have led to all sorts of evils.

These are some of the personal reasons I have for maintaining my faith in the historical and divine Jesus. The story is so fantastic and loving it defies any human ability to create.

We take His teachings for granted in today’s world. I liken it to showing the innovative car chase sequence in Bullitt to my wife. She said, “It looks like every other car chase scene”. I told her, “that’s because every other car chase scene COPIED this one!”

See Christianity is like that. Society has absorbed part of its value system of love so much that we forget what times looked like in the Pagan days. We only have to look at places like China, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc... to be reminded of a world without Christ.

And as we watch the Western world fall away from the limits that Christian love sets (love no evil) we see how the West slowly is falling.

I’m sorry if it sounds like a sermon! But the love I have for Him is so great it makes me ramble at times. LOL.

It will probably be included with each college student's orientation package. I used to teach a Sunday School class to Junior/Senior High aged kids. I warned them that the first thing they will "learn" in college is that "there is no God".

I agree mostly with what Ben Franklin had to say about Christianity.

Some days I do miss being a theist. But I know what it's like, so my original point still stands; there's nothing in this documentary that hasn't been said before, so it's unlikely to have an effect on anyone.

C.S. Lewis noted and answered the pagan foreshadowings and echoes of Christ many years ago.

Thank you very much -- I was going to post the same thing. Then, they are more than a few wackos who believe that Lewis was a pagan sun-worshipper. Do a Google and your jaw will drop.

Well, they're all 'stories'. I don't see any evidence that the shower of gold story was made up after 1 AD, but with myths, anything is possible.
