Long Beach City Council to Vote on Ammunition Registration Tuesday

Please Make Your Opposition Heard!
On Tuesday, March 24, the Long Beach City Council is set to vote on whether to draft an ordinance to force ammunition sellers in Long Beach to record the identity of all ammunition purchasers, as well as other details of the sales transaction. These records would then be collected and used by the Long Beach Police Department to identify purchasers who are legally prohibited from possessing ammunition.
This ordinance will do nothing to reduce crime. It is simply an attempt to restrict the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens.
The results of previous ammunition registration experiments have been so dismal that other cities have abandoned these schemes rather than pay to maintain them.
The ordinance is also illegal. These ammunition registration ordinances are preempted by state law and constitute an unconstitutional infringement on the Second Amendment.
Your help is needed to defeat this proposal. Please call and email the Long Beach City Council and/or attend the City Council meeting on March 24, 2009 and voice your opposition. Tell your neighbors to do the same. For contact information for the Long Beach City Council, please click here.

My husband does his own re-loading, and he has been having trouble finding powder and some other supplies. Everyone is stocking up. (Michigan)
And even the proposition of this, whether it passes or not will clean the nations store shelves of ammo again. (but that’s ok, good to BLOAT!) Now, in order to keep everything in order, make it so criminals can call in and register thier ammo before commiting a crime. Or maybe arrange it so they can register it by mail after they commit a crime, Wow! maybe register it online in comfort of thier own govt. apartment after the holdup!

IMO each member of the council who votes to abridge rights should be treated with the courtesy appropriate for enemies of the Constitution.

It might end up being a self fulfilling prophecy if they keep this crap up.
So, don’t shop in Long Beach for anything. The people who financed these idiots will be less willing to finance them if their sales drop. Also, it is important to get the boycott in the news even if it isn’t real. Look at how it will discriminate against Crips, Bloods and other felons. They will be on record, far more so than when they ACORN voted a dozen times. Of course Alinsky organizing is way too much work for people who have jobs.
I will certainly do my best to see they are treated that way.
