Now Obama has insulted French President Sarkozy!

Oh no! Obama sent a letter to Chirac, saying he looks forward to working with him the next four years. Le Figaro, French newspaper is horrified at the faux pas. Doesn't Obama ever consult his staff before acting? Sarkozy is the President there! It's like Sarko writing to George Bush and saying he looks forward to working with him. Chirac is the FORMER president.
Here is a translation of the letter in Le Figaro:

Barack Obama does not seem to know that in May 2007, French voters elected Nicolas Sarkozy to the French presidency, to succeed Jacques Chirac who had been president for twelve years.
Yesterday, we told you Sarkozy is irritated because Mister O. refuses to tell him if he will accept to meet him personally in the next few months.
Strangely, we have just learnt this surprising piece of news :
Barack Obama wrote a letter to Jacques Chirac to tell him about his desire to "work with him" for the next four years ! In a letter described by Chirac as "very nice," Obama wrote, "I am certain that we will be able to work together, in the coming four years, in a spirit of peace and friendship to build a safer world." The use of the word "peace" was taken to be an indirect reference to Chirac's stance against the US intervention in Iraq, which Obama had also opposed.
This revelation was made by the online edition of the daily Le Figaro on Thursday.

So, if I understand well, Mister O., who has already despised Gordon Brown, behaving with him as if he did not know he is Prime Minister of Britain, does not even know the name of the French president.
I wonder if someone had told him, when he came to France last summer, that the man he met was NOT Jacques Chirac !

This impostor is taking us all down with him. Look at his international accomplishments so far: The man who said the world will love us if he got elected has created more dislike for us in 50 days than we have had since our departure from the Mother country. The British, The French, the Israelis, of course Iran thinks he is a fool; and Chavez has called him an "ignoramus," and China won't buy our bonds,despite Hillary's pleadings because Obama has ruined the economy. I am sure the rest of the world leaders are meeting and laughing their heads off that Americans have been so stupid as to put this unskilled, untrained, inept, tactless, and unaccomplished self-promoting street urchin in charge.
Even with our weakest President, Carter, we never looked so ripe for ridicule. Even though it was said that Europeans did not like Bush, they knew he was strong and sure of himself.
Having Obama as president reminds me of the story "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," and Quasimodo...when they dressed him up and put a crown on his head for the Fool's Day festival and named him "King of the Fools."
When are people going to wake up Obama really met a CHANGE FROM FREE ENTERPRISE TO I DON’T KNOW.....

In other words, I believe that Obama knew exactly what he was doing. Obama is giving vent to unresolved personal issues of hate and anger at the expense of the best interests of the United States.

Well, he said he wanted to work with Chirac for the next 4 years. It makes no sense to send a letter like that to a guy out of political power. But who knows.

You are correct. It has been taken out of context, and it does not help Conservatives when they do this. This was a diplomatic faux pas, but not mistaken identity of the French president. Limbaugh does this type of thing all the time and it grates me no end. There is enough to get people worked up about without stretching the truth!
