BUTTE, Mont. (AP) - A Federal Aviation Administration spokesman says 17 people are dead in a plane crash in Montana. Spokesman Mike Fergus says the single engine turboprop plane departed from Orville, Calif., and that the pilot had filed a flight plan showing a final destination of Bozeman.
Fergus says the pilot canceled his flight plan at some point and headed for Butte. The plane crashed about 500 feet from the airport while attempting to land and caught fire.

According to what I find on the net this plane is only rated for 9 passengers.

My guess is he was very overloaded and either ran out of fuel (doubtful because of the fire) or reduced speed too much for the overweight condition. Just a guess, love planes but don’t fly.
Standard nine passenger commuter seating, Executive six to eight passenger seating, Cargo, Combi passenger and cargo, dedicated or quick change Air Ambulance and Multi-Mission Surveillance.

Been trying to find out what’s going on ... it was up on FOX then it’s gone ....nothing on CNN either .... weird ....
Its back on Foxnews.com now. Confirmed 17 dead but the model of plane isn’t in this one. The info in the current story is below. Sounds like maybe a weight shift/stall?
“An eyewitness to the crash told The Montana Standard the plane was doing steep angle turns and then went into a nose dive.
“All of a sudden the pilot lost control and went into a nose dive,” said Kenny Gulick. “He couldn’t pull out in time and crashed into the trees of the cemetery.””

17 wetbacks? I watched 23 Mexicans get out of a standard length Ford van at a highway stop once.Then they all got back in. It looked what I used to see in the circus many years ago.

Considering the story clearly states that it was a twin engine, and the picture is a single engine ....
