Court Suspends Carry in National Parks

Thursday, March 19, 2009

Today, a federal district court in Washington, D.C. granted anti-gun plaintiffs a preliminary injunction against implementation of the new rule allowing concealed carry in national parks and national wildlife refuges.

Until further notice, individuals cannot legally carry loaded, concealed firearms for personal protection in national parks and wildlife refuges.

The court did grant NRA's motion to intervene in the cases. Under federal law, NRA is entitled to an immediate appeal, and NRA will exercise that right.

"Just as we did not give up the fight to change the old, outdated rule, we will not give up our fight in the courts to defend the rule change," said NRA chief lobbyist Chris W. Cox. "We will pursue every legal avenue to defend the American people's right to self-defense."

They can suspend all they want, when you have the unfortunate reality of the magnitude of violence that is occurring on the US/Mexico border today, it should be blatantly obvious to those who have eyes to see and ears to hear that the time is near and to be prepared and ready should be of the FIRST ORDER!

P.S. Not to mention ALL THE OTHER CRAZINESS being carried on.

Could this be going the same way as the Veterans issue?

Obama forced to concede to Veterans Service Organizations!

One can only HOPE so.

Wonder how many times (CAUTION!!! Extreme Sarcasm in use) the honorable Colleen Kollar-Kotelly been out in the deep woods by herself. Personally I feel a .44 Redhawk and a 14 inch Buck Bowie to be the bare minimum.

Think about this one. I am in central North Carolina. I want to drive over to Asheville. No road going east to west does not cross the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a national park. So this ruling effectively prevents anyone from with a conceal carry permit, who does not want to give up their Second Amendment right from moving across the state of North Carolina.

I wonder if it applies to National Monuments? I can think of a couple of counties in the southwest that had the majority of their land designated as such.

This “Court” granted an injunction against already-implemented policy - virtually settled law!

Obama recently and secretly stopped airline pilots from having weapons. The O has lots of under the table scams going on and this is just the beginning of his Marxist reign.

Exactly, we’ll obey that law the way illegals avoid invading this country illegally.

Tards are going to reap a nation of scofflaws - and that will be scoffing at all laws - but they aren’t smart enough to see it.

I thought you like reading my opinions???

Do you want my opinion???

Funny, we knew this was coming from this time last year...It was very unlikely McCain was going to secure the top spot, and that whomever won on the other side of the aisle was going to reverse this, or get a court to do so...

I wonder when the people are going to realize that we need to put gun control on the defensive, and the Second Amendment on offence...

Too bad politics seems to favor control, over freedom and liberty...

(oh, that’s good...I need to write that one down...)

Well, maybe I’ll forget this ruling, and what’s concealed will remain concealed.

went to the smokies not long ago and had mu gun with me, I plan on going through there again next month and then take the blue ridge but according to this I can’t now take my gun

WTH

How on earth am I supposed to get from A to B then.
Environmentally I will add more pollution by going all the way around .

The left really are pushing at the moment and the president on on Leno, ESPN, laughing, going through the i-pod on Wednesday nights and then his weekends are off .

I swear I am so fed up of homo’s anti gun and anti constitution folk right now that I cannot help but say something to people if I see an obama sticker on a car especially when I see vets for obama.
one had that sticker on and when I went up to him about it I found he had never served but thought it would be good to put the sticker on.

Isn’t a good part of D.C. a national park? Same with many downtown areas in many cities and towns.

...backdoor move maybe?

Like we’d tell ANYONE we have a gun when we’re in a National Park.

Any adult who ventures into the woods beyond the scent distance of a national park snack concession without a gun is a moron who shouldn't be allowed to breed. That such a rule hasn't been rigorously enforced explains the very existence of liberals.

Read the first part of the opinion.

From what little I saw, it sounds as if the Dept of Interior was a little sloppy.

Congress could fix this tomorrow if they wanted to.

Congress is more likely to uphold it than overturn it. They are also more likely to ban more guns than remove any bans on carrying (dare I say "bearing") them in a "federal jurisdiction".
