MISSING video on Hunter. His speech on the Floor doesnt seem to be available. It is too bad too because Hunters Amendment is probably the only piece of STEAK wedged in between a huge CRAP SANDWICH. Only my opinion. But still waiting for the ACTUAL language of the Amendment.
Teague (D-NM)s Amendment sounds like it may be helpful to Veterans but only if implemented correctly but the Veterans here at Free Republic will have to weigh in on this one for true vetting to take place.
Hills Amendment
.I have no words right now
It is best explained by watching the video. It seems like it would give anyone who sent our troops care packages a TAX DEDUCTION (You know us Americans we need to get paid to do something kind for someone who is in need
I dont know about you
but I am waiting for the Government to EMPOWER me to volunteer. /sarc) the ability to deduct the money they shell out to send care packages overseas to our military.
HILLs own words in his video says it better than I can. At first, I thought family members of our service men and women would get a tax break ok that sound like HELP right well it is not for the family members. Watch the video and then I guess we will have to wait and see the ACTUAL text to see what is true HELP for our beloved Veterans and what is only a guise of one big FAT EARMARK. Maybe it is not as bad as I think.
It is my understanding the ACTUAL TEXT of all of these Amendments is not yet available to the PUBLIC so I guess we really cant evaluate these Amendments 100% until the text is aired publicly.
I have no idea when that would be. Hopefully before this CRAPULOUS SANDWICH
(HR 1388 SOON TO BE known as the S. 277, KENNEDY/HATCH SERVE ACT )is VOTED on in the Senate.
ALERT: Hunter will be on HANNITYS show tonight. I have NO IDEA what he will be talking about with Hannity but you never know.
2:40 P.M. - Amendment offered by Mr. Hill.
Amendment numbered 9 printed in House Report 111-39 to denote that sending care packages to soldiers deployed in combat zones overseas is included as an eligible service program.
POSTPONED PROCEEDINGS - At the conclusion of debate on the Markey of Colorado amendment the Chair put the question on adoption of the amendment, and by voice vote announced that the ayes had prevailed. Ms. Markey demanded a recorded vote and the Chair postponed further proceedings on adoption of the amendment until later in the legislative day.

2:45 P.M. -
DEBATE - Pursuant to the provisions of H. Res. 250, the Committee of the Whole proceeded with ten minutes of debate on the Teague of New Mexico amendment.
Amendment offered by Mr. Teague.
Amendment numbered 10 printed in House Report 111-39 to aid veterans in their pursuit of education and professional opportunities, help veterans with the claims process, and assist rural, disabled, and unemployed veterans with transportation needs.
On agreeing to the Hill amendment Agreed to by voice vote.

Remember how much better off Americans were when we had a “deadlocked” Congress? I sure do miss those days.

Oh me too. How do we start "TERM LIMIT" legislation because I am ready.
It is a disgrace.

My suggestion, in the spirt of the “messiah”, is to make serving in Congress voluntary. Take away the pay and perks and we could empty that rats’ nest out in a hurry.

That's like putting a chocolate covering on a turd!
Any GOP member who votes for that, somehow thinking it makes things better, should be voted out of office!
The main concept of this bill it terminally flawed and it should not be dressed up to try and make it more palatable, even if it is going to pass.

One term and out - no retirement, no petty cash, no stamps, no gym, no nothing. Serve the people which is the way it all began.

That's like putting a chocolate covering on a turd! Obama will show you how to pick up a turd by the clean end. That way you can dip it in chocolate safely.

For me the moment I burst into tears was when I heard they were going to stop letting the pilots carry guns.
I’m so glad my brother just retired.

Read your thread about Amendment 12 in HR 1388, Give Act ( now known as Senate Bill 277)..thought you might find this thread interest.
I had the same reaction to Amendment 12.
They slipped in in the day of the debate. Very sneaky.

"Oh me too. How do we start "TERM LIMIT" legislation because I am ready. "If they're already actively substituting the Constitution for toilet paper, what makes you think term limits legislation would be any more effective than chewed bubble gum? They, RINOs and Rats alike, are not playing by the rules. Congress have shirked their duty, the courts are in enemy hands...so where does that leave us?
The time has come to "get ready" for our wost nightmare.
