Obama Not Making Any Friends With Veterans (The blowback will bring Zero down)
KXnet.com ^ | 3-16-09

A few days ago I posted about the Obama administration’s plan to rob soldiers of some of their medical benefits. Today the head of the American Legion (the nation’s largest veterans organization) paid a visit to Obama to talk about the issue, and he didn’t leave happy.Normally I am a staunch advocate of limited government and privatization. But in this instance we have troops who served their country, often in awful war zones that left them scarred and maimed, and they did so with the assumption that medical care would be one of the benefits they’d receive as compensation. The government has no business trying to opt out of that.

I hope those mentioned in your post have learned their lesson.

And what lesson would that be?

So, which one was better? In the short term, probably McCain, but at the long term cost of the entire conservative movement. In the long term, and I hate to admit this, Obama. At least folks are awake and angry now.

The truth of the matter, though, is that both of them sucked; whether the degree to which they sucked, relative to each other, is worth debating is dubious at best. Either way, the United States and her citizens were going to have to endure some pain.

Cut the vitriol, newby. You *may* have something useful to contribute to FR, but your tone is not welcome.

LOL. Nice try. the problem was GWB didnt sell the public on a humanitarian mission, he sold them on WMDs and “Mushroom Clouds”

Not true. Pres. Bush laid down a line in the sand for Saddam Hussein which was to comply with the U.N. resolutions. He didn't comly and Bush did as promised.

That we now have the anti-Christ leading the country.

Well I voted for McStain/Palin.

Time will tell which outcome would have been better.

Sometimes it is better in the long term to lose.

If Obama’s crap leads to a reaction that restores GOP strength in Congress and goes on to lose in ‘12 it will be good thing he won in ‘08.

If the GOP does not recover, he’s reelected, the country shifts to euro-socialism, Scalia and Thomas leave the court and are replaced with loons, then you can look back and say the watered down socialism of President McCain would have been preferable..

I think if Bush had lost, we wouldn’t be in the this Obama-Pelosi mess now. You might have President George Allen, victor over 1 term loser John Kerry and a Republican Congress.

What utter bullshit.  There will be millions of babies murdered in the next four years under the reign of this commie. He is going to sign the Freedom of Choice Act and overturn the partial birth abortion ban. It's bad enough we have legal abortion but when President Bush banned this hideous procedure I never thought to see it back again.

Can you give those babies back? There is no excuse for this BS.

And there were millions of babies murdered during Bush's watch. What's your point?

My personal opinion is that once the primaries are done and there are 2 candidates, voting for a third party candidate is the same as not voting. Too much is at stake.

I used to believe in that logic -- until Schwarzenegger.

Liberal Republicans CAN be more dangerous than Democrats. Arnie has been able to accomplish more for the liberal agenda than any Democrat could have dreamed of. He has been able to twist arms to get the minimum number of pubbies to go along with he and the Democrats in a long list of programs (taxes, spending, borrowing, land grabs, stem-cell research, global warming, etc). At the same time, Pubbies feel inhibited in speaking out against a member of their own party (at least in the beginning). The same was true with Bush and the Prescription Drug program (and a few other items). Remember FR? Any voice of criticism was quickly extinguished by hordes of bots. If Republicans/Conservatives won't keep their most liberal representatives in check, exactly who will? (answer: no one).

Hellllllllloooooooooooo........... have you been paying any attention at all???? if so you would not have written what you just wrote here? This week alone:

Obama wants to charge wounded veterans for their medical care

SEIU now wants to nationalize 401k's

Obama continues to spend like a drunken sailor

Obama takes guns out of the hands of pilots and Napolitano decided the War on Terror isn't and neither is the term Terrorist.

Obama wants to make nice with the Taliban and gives Hamas a small fortune of OUR $$$$$$$4

Putin wants an international currency

Putin moving planes to Cuba and Venezuela

these are only a smidgen of what is and has been going on... there isn't any question about who is or was a disaster.. and everyone out there continuing to throw mud on the GOP had better wake up and grow up and do it soon while we still have a freaking country called America.

Right now we will be lucky to have a country, much less anything called a conservative movement — or have you not been seeing the forest for the trees? Wake up, rab, before it’s too late and stop fighting people we need on our side... go after people like Specter, Snowe, Collins, Murkowski, who are not voting with the GOP, but give all others a rest, our country is sliding away before our very eyes.

and...p.s.... George Allen couldn’t even get re-elected senator so I don’t know where you’re pulling president out of your hat... but people darned well better grow up and get the stars out of their eyes, unless you like the way Putin runs his country.

“I used to believe in that logic — until Schwarzenegger. “

You have a point :-) GA is not CA, yet, thank God. If there was a dem on the ticket more conservative than an obvious RINO, I would vote for the conservative. (In a perfect world where I KNEW the conservative was truly conservative)

I swore I would never vote for McCain. Ever. His treatment of the Swiftboat Vets (called them liars) was unforgiveable. Too much was at stake in this election. SCOTUS topped the list. I had to eat my words & hold my nose.

I did not vote for him to keep a Republican in the WH. I wanted to keep Obama out.

Yeah, McCain and his “dishonest and dishonorable” comment was among his lowest moments, IMO.

There was no contest in the presidential race in California.
A vote for McCain wouldn’t have made a difference, so I didn’t.
I’m sick of the GOP leadership believing that we’ll “vote for anyone with an R by their name.”

They don't really care how we vote or even whether GOP candidates win or lose. The only thing that matters to them is kissing the asses of incumbents in return for patronage positions.

Get this conservatives. If you thought McCain was pathetic and would further termite the R party, you are responsible for all the abortions the next 4 years. That's a new one. So McCain was the lone finger holding the dyke against the sea of liberals in congress? The sole protector of unborn. And so what if he would have cut a few deals on amnesty, and taxes, and liberal spending with Pelosi putting R stamp of approval on them like TARP?? He might still veto few bad things and maybe a couple of them would even be upheld. Longing for President McCain yet?

Look, if we have to put up with taxes and increased Welfare spending under McCain/Pelosi then it's only fair you stomach the Obama/Pelosi abortions too. Last thing we need is a pro-welfare, pro-tax, pro-illegal, ,pro-global warming, Pro-bailout BUT still pro-life Republican party.

McCain was too busy giving the finger to conservatives to hold the dyke against the sea of rabid liberals in Congress.
