INDIANAPOLIS -- A 14-month-old girl who police said was severely beaten by her mother's boyfriend died Friday afternoon.
Lilianna Goodmann had been at the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincent since Wednesday. She was taken off life support at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, said Indianapolis police Sgt. Paul Thompson.

Police said Chism beat the girl for more than an hour Wednesday in an apartment in the 2100 block of Amherst Drive because she wouldn't eat food and "for failure to show respect to Chism," Thompson said.
Rachel Goodmann, who is also 14 weeks pregnant, was treated and released.

Child molesters and child abusers are usually incarcerated in segregated facilities, not in the general population.
By far, most often the culprit is “the boyfriend.” They tend to have no emotional connection with the child and see him or her as a rival for the mother’s attention and affection.
....I really should start tracking this and apply for a government grant for a complete, in depth study...

Agreed. My oldest grandson was killed by his mother's boyfriend the week of his second birthday. The perp got 12 years.

It’s the one area where the other person can’t trump the other, they have no right to. Sometimes kids get away with a lot of crap (older ones) cuz the birth parent is lax.
But this kind of thing is not that, it’s disgusting. Hopefully the guy is a future candidate for a rusty shank.
