How your brain creates God? (Evos try to reduce God to natural by-product of how brain works)
CMI ^ | March 10, 2009 | Adrian Bates

Posted on 03/10/2009 10:32:03 AM PDT by GodGunsGuts

The journal New Scientist has recently run an article called Born Believers: How your brain creates God (especially in hard financial times)1… Towards the latter end of the article is a disclaimer that ‘All the researchers involved stress that none of this says anything about the existence or otherwise of gods.’ However, the tenor of the article, including the title, militates strongly that the author’s preferred reality is that, yes folks, “your brain creates God.”

The article initially suggests that “God” is created in our brains as a result of “an evolutionary adaptation that makes people more likely to survive”. However it then points out that this theory is not accepted by many in the evolutionary community. Blithely over-riding this hiccup, it then launches into an alternate, conflicting theory that “religion emerges as a natural by-product of the way the human mind works”...

I don't know about others, but my com link to God is in my heart. I can feel God's love in my heart. I don't think He has ever talked to my brain, but I know He has talked to my heart.

You may find this strange, but when I was saved, I felt the love of God flood my heart. It was an incredible feeling. Like every deep hole in my heart was suddenly flooding with love. I have fallen astray at times and the love will dwindle, but when I pray it comes back. I honestly can't wait for the day that He writes his laws in my heart and signs his name at the bottom. I only hope that I will be worthy enough to follow all the laws. Right now, I try to follow those laws, but I fall short. One day, I hope I will stand my ground for Him.

I am not going to debate the existence of God and so on, because I know there is a God. There is nothing that anyone can say to me that will change what is in my heart. And He gave us all free will and who am I to take that away. So, I respect your thoughts, but I don't agree with them. So, maybe you could respect what we think and don't worry about debating us. You would have to change what is in our heart, not our mind. And I would add that you have a mighty task ahead of you.

And it is amazing that as I write this, my heart is filling with love again. I rejoice in this feeling. Nothing on this planet can compare.

God bless er evo bless you. ;-)

Again with the assumptions that simply because I support evolution that I am not a believer.

So what does your heart tell you about spreading unsubstantiated rumors about other people? If you heart is unclear I am pretty sure you Bible isn’t - you might want to read up on it - it isn’t exactly supportive of such actions.

My apologies. I see a lot of people who support evo who don't believe. Therefore, I generalized you. I hope you accept this apology.

God bless AND evo bless you.

Thank you - we are all guilty of that at one point or another.

If more people - ON BOTH SIDES - would be civil to each other the debates would be more productive.

But I will have to say that you have been kind to me - which is a marked difference than the way most on your side have treated me. For that I am appreciative.

I think it is the passion for one’s belief that inspires the unrest on both sides.

I really don't agree with the headline of this article because my belief in God was created in my heart and not my mind. For others, I can not speak. For me, I know what I felt the day I was saved and I know what I feel now. I suppose people who have never felt this will never understand it. That is OK with me, because of the free will thing. I love freedom and when I see different beliefs. I see the freedom that God has given us.

Therefore, I don't care to change anyone’s mind about evolution, God, and so on. I would only like to remind people that believing in God given rights is better then believing in man or guvmint given Rights.

I have a question for you. I am not trying to spark a debate, just an understanding. How do evolutionist account for ice ages. I mean, if we evolve according to our environment, wouldn't the mastodon shed it's fur and adapt to it's new environment when the planet warmed? Wouldn’t we see more evidence of animals evolving from cold weather animal to warm weather animals? And there have been several ice ages. Therefore, wouldn't there be some evidence of animals growing ‘cold weather gear’ and shedding cold weather gear?

Glaciers formed all the way down to New York City and beyond. The ice was four times as high as the Empire State building. It would take a long time to melt all that ice and therefore give animals time to evolve around it. Is there any evidence to support this from an evolutionist point of view?

Again, I am not trying to spark a passionate debate, just an understanding.

That researchers actually GET MONEY for this sort of thing, proves that there is a devil.

"you(r) Bible"? What about yours?

For all your injured, persecuted party posts, you've never admitted that you believe and so never have given anyone any reason to think that. It seems that the only credibility you are giving Scripture is as a weapon to bludgeon believers with, to manipulate their behavior; the behavior you don't like.

Using the Bible to try to blackmail or intimidate people to back off is reprehensible.

Exactly what unsubstantiated rumors has d-t-d *spread* about you anyway?

Thanks for pinging me that. I thought at one time that the deistic and atheistic evolutionists were the majority here. As they are the majority in (un)civilization at large.

Maybe in part - do you think they talk to you or are trying to kill you?

Makes one wonder how/why such a mutation wasn’t bred out through the (insert Carl Sagan voice) biiilllions and biiilllions of years <<

Why would you assume that an inborn desire to understand the nature of the world and believe in a higher power is bad?

>>The never ending crevo debate is NOT news.<<

I would have picked a different source than CMI to discuss it but the underlying story in the New Scientist is news.

You misread, misquote and misunderstand again.

So it matters not to you how your little front page evo jihad hurts the credibility of free republic, eh?

It went downhill badly for you from this point.
