The Federales could make real progress on the crime problem if they started shooting each other.

If illegals had to pay NJ property taxes, there wouldn’t be a single one to be found.

Not true. I have to pay the $450,000 (only slightly kidding) annual property tax by myself. They can divide the rent up between the 36 of them.

Somebody has to work to pay for their kids education and wife's ob/gyn medicaid costs. I'm the sucker.

“I guess the Mexicanos have been acidophiles for at least 50 years or so.”

If you can make methamphetamine you have access to acids.

Yep - amongst other things.

It’s really interesting how the media isn’t reporting the true - that Mexico is devolving in civil war. When a country declares martial law, that’s a tip off I’d say.

Well, I certainly this finally convinces some parents Not to let their college kids take Spring Break in Mexico, no matter how Mexico's tourist dept. has been complaining about the bad PR.

Mexico is corrupt period. Always has been. IF is wasn't drugs, it would be something else.

What else could fund them to the tune of $8.6 billion? They are killing each other over a large but finite market. They have ALREADY turned to things like other drugs, kidnapping and bank robbery. There just isn't the upside left in anything else. Do you disagree?

______________________________________

Crime would be far worse with legal drugs, kids and others on just marajuana will be robbing and killing for money for drugs.

1. Show me your evidence that in a legal market, marijuana use would increase. I submit the following:

Dutch drug policies do not increase marijuana use, first rigorous comparative study finds

-snip-

The study was funded by the U.S. National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the Dutch Ministry of Health.

2. Show your evidence that a legal marijuana market would increase crime. I submit Milton Friedman's letter to Bill Bennett via a FR thread that shows the link between prohibition and violent crime:

Milton Friedman on the "War on Drugs" (In a Letter to Bill Bennett)

Marajuana, a gateway drug, then it becomes crack and coke, etc.

Explain why the Dutch had a lower rate of heroin addiction than Singapore, Iran, and the U.S.:

Bad enough drunk drivers, we don'tt need more pot heads driving

“The news from Juarez saddens me. I lived in El Paso from 66-69”
______________________________
Me too. I grew up in El Paso. (My father was retired Army. He always liked Ft. Bliss.)

Anyway, I lived there from ‘69 to ‘86. I felt relatively safe there but as the years went by the violence steadily rose.
I don't even recognize the place today. I know it was always a “border town” but now feels exactly like Mexico.

Instead of finding ways for illegals to get American medical care for free, our crappy politicians should be protecting our borders.

So you are saying if illegal immigrants were made legal
there wouldn’t be the crime that goes with it.
That is your same reasoning with illegal drugs.

Juarez is hell on earth. I haven’t been there in ten years but the memories of the cardboard shacks, the tires burned for warmth, and the smell of feces and urine still stick in my mind.

Border lawmakers fear narco-nuke terrorism link
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2201947/posts?page=1

[snip]“When you have…gangs and they have loose ties with al Qaeda and then you have Iran not too far away from building a nuclear capability, nuclear terrorism may not be far off,” said Rep. Trent Franks (R- Ariz.), a member of the House Armed Services committee.

“The goal of the cartels is to make money,” said Cuellar, who sits on the House Homeland Security committee. “If they can smuggle in drugs and human cargo, then certainly they can smuggle other things in, other devices to cause us harm.”

“We have not heard of any associations, but is there the possibility? I’ll be the first to say, yeah. They have the routes, they can very easily smuggle in other things.”

So you are saying if illegal immigrants were made legal there wouldn't be the crime that goes with it.

No, I am not saying that. I would think currently illegal immigrants would likely commit the same amount of crime regardless of their status.

That is your same reasoning with illegal drugs.

It is YOUR reasoning, not mine. I showed you a letter from Milton Friedman which outlines my reasoning.

Marijuana does not go on to commit crimes - unless you think like a gun grabber that objects DO commit crimes.

People who want to alter their minds on Booze or drugs need Psych help.

Two beers are mind altering. Do people who drink two beers need psych help? Would you want government to provide such help?

“I will be over in Juarez soon....will shoot as much video as I can. Will post to youtube and also send to fox news if I get something really good.”

Please do be careful. They may think you are a journalist. More journalists have been killed in Mexico than anywhere. The news the other day showed one on a freeway getting fired on from both sides.

My TN permit is due for renewal. What is this crap about providing an original of one’s birth certificate? I don’t remember the legislature passing that. Is it some Dept of Safety person making some arbitrary bureaucratic rule? I’m about to say screw it and carry anyway. I have had a permit for 8 years and never had this asked of me. Do you know anyhting about it?
